Three knife-carrying passengers intercepted at Bombay airport

Hours after a man armed with a knife tried to hijack a passenger jet travelling between Bombay and the Maldives, security officials at Bombay airport have intercepted three more passengers found to be carrying knives.

The three passengers had landed in Bombay after a flight from Trivandrum in southern India, and were supposed to take a further flight to Saudi Arabia.

Bombay airport officials offloaded the three men and they are now being investigated.

Meanwhile, Air Seychelles have asked their counterparts in Bombay to investigate the security lapse that allowed a passenger to get on the earlier plane with a knife.

The man had tried to force his way into the cockpit and is said to have wanted a flight diversion from its intended location.

He was overpowered by crew members.

The Air Seychelles Boeing 737 had also begun from Bombay and was carrying about 64 passengers en route to Seychelles via Male, capital of the Indian Ocean country of Maldives.

Decided to put the updated report on Indian hijack attempt into breaking. It seems they nailed three others attempting to board at Bombay airport - all carying knives.

Any info on whether the hijackers were members of the Religion of Peace?

There once were three men from Maldives
Who tried to get on board with knives
Their plan, it was thwarted
(Or so it's reported)
Which probably saved scores of lives

This sounds like a serious hijacking attempt. Was it an Indian airline? The last India airline to be hijacked ended up in Afghanistan, with the murderer of Daniel Pearl released in a prisoner exchange.

What a pack of morons. After 9/11, flight crews and passengers aren't gonna take it anymore. Hijackers no longer have the "protection" of their hostages believing that if they cooperate, they will eventually be freed. The Spirit of Flight 93 is not reserved for Americans only. Any civilized human being on this planet knows that a hijacking courtesy of the "religion of peace" means certain death at the hands of religious perverts.

Any member of the perverted desert cult attempting a hijacking these days better be armed with more than a knife. I know that I would risk my own life taking some Islamic scum out rather than have my life ended sitting down and doing nothing. Let's roll over these idiots and soon.

It was Air Seychelles. I'm not sure if it's India based or not. Seychelles is a popular tourist island southeast of Somalia.

Anyone care to speculate on a possible target? (Assuming it was a homicide attempt.)

I expect (at some point) for an attempt to me made on one of our carriers anticipating us to be 'gun-shy' after we downed the Iranian passenger plane some time back.

Yup. Tht's gonna be a big problem for them from now on. Look for things other than airliners in the future.

It's hard to say -- A U.S. military installation or a U.S. or British embassy somewhere would be my guess. The three they caught at the airport were supposed to get a connecting flight on to Saudia Arabia.

The Taj Mahal. Know any target in India that would hit the Indian psyche harder?

"The Taj Mahal."

Yup. I expect the Indian fighter pilots are getting some 'extra' flying time recently.

Oh, Incase you were unaware. Diego Garcia is the "Pearl Harbor" of the Indian Ocean. It is a major military installation for our fleet and Air Ops.

Sounds to me like India's security does a better job than USA ones. However, if 3 or 4 are busted, there's gotta be another 12 (like roaches) ready to take their place.

The Taj is an islamic made monument with tons of koran writing all over it.

I'd seriously doubt an attack on that. Maybe an Indian chemical plant or something.
