A fascinating link! I see more and more similarities between Islam and Soviet Marxism. In the dar al-Islam, morality holds sway. In the dar al-Harb, all's fair. A similar division obtained in the Cold War--in the sphere ruled by Moscow, one was to be decent and upright(a fraud, but that was the public line), and in the world yet to be conquered by Moscow, one was obligated to subvert and overthrow. Islam's view of morality reminds me of Lenin's dictum: behavior is moral if it advances the revolution. It's idle if it doesn't. Finally, the obligation to deceive the uninitiated is a moral duty for both sets of ideologues.
