Gosh, it's so hard to believe that in three days, it'll be the Primary. Wow, time flies when you're having fun. Just keep hoping that someone knocks some sense into that judge before he rules...if no one else will, I'll be happy to (haha). Must say though, that these Katherine pictures are some of my favorites, however my personal favorites are the one that Katherine and I talked about from May. Anyways, Katherine is truly an amazing Southern lady, who deserves to be in Congress if not being the first female President. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed and praying overtime!

Thanks :)

Actually, when I met Katherine in May, I told her about our names and she thought that it was so funny, and sweet, not to mention she loves visiting freerepublic!

Thanks, I've taken a little flak over mine from time to time.

Yes, Conservatives still eat their young.

I think that's great that she reads FreeRepublic. She did a beautiful job during the election mess and I know she'll be a great Congressman (Congresswoman, Congressperson?). Whatever, you know what I mean. LOL

" Yes, Conservatives still eat their young."

I've even noticed some of that here at FreeRepublic. We need to stick together. Anyway, good luck with the campaign.

Great pics. Have faith. They'll look at the big picture....and the Big Picture for the Dems. means that former AG Bob Butterworth (Al Gore's Fla. campaign mgr. who did exactly what Ms. Harris did and is still on the ballot) will never have a Big Future if the Florida Dem. courts and Dem. press take out Katherine over this....that's what I'm reminding them.

Yes, she certainly did do a wonderful job during the election. The way she handled all the media attention and the jokes about herself, wow, she just handled them with charm, which she has a lot of. She's a wonderful person, who takes time to talk with anyone about anything. I know when I had my meeting with her, I just figured it'd be a five minute meeting, and turned out to be a thirty minute one and we talked about everything and anything. She's great, and Lord willing, she'll win.

I'm trying very hard to convince myself that Judge Davey's stalling doesn't mean anything bad, but it's not working. Any thoughts?

My very wild guess is that she wins the RP primary, gets d'q'ed by the judge, and then gets reinstated on appeal.

I don't think the judge wants to d'q' her when she lacks enough time to appeal his decision before the primary election. So, I think that is what he will probably do (disqualify her from the ballot retrospectively.).

After the 2000 election, needless to say, the election laws and the precidents in Florida are somewhat confusing. I suspect Judge Davey doesn't want to wade into the middle of this.

This will definitely be an interesting one to watch.

I'm not from Florida actually. I'm a tenth grader in a public HS in Maryland. Florida is so interesting, it's always so messy. That's why I follow it.

Well, assuming you really are a tenth-grader -- or anybody else, for that matter -- I think this may well be one of the most interesting elections that will take place this year.

I suggest you start by looking at how the Florida Supreme Court ruled in the last presidential elction versus how the U.S. Supreme Court ruled. It's not simple.

Read them yourself; don't rely on what other people tell you about them.

Do you follow the letter of the law as it was written, or do you follow the principle of giving everyone the right to vote even if some rules have been broken? When do you out off that right and come to a final decision? What if there are disputes?

Not so easy.

I looked a little at your profile.

If you really are a tenth-grader, you better know that you should take yourself *very* seriously. You ain't exactly dumb, nor are you common..

My one concern is that you might be becoming a conservative too young in your life. A very wise man once told my son something about that which I don't really want to repeat verbatim here. The general idea was that it is okay for young and idealist people to be liberal. That's normal.

It is less okay for older people like me to do that. We tend to get more jaded and more cynical about all institutions, governments included. We get more interested in the things that immediately surround us. That could be selfish, but it really isn't. You take care of your own first. That's simply primal. It doesn't mean you don't care about anyone else.

My concern is that you could be starting out the wrong way. You may (likely will) correct that in the years after college and it will need/get/find other adjustments after that, but for now I think you should probably be giving the liberals the benefit of the doubt.

Some experience on the other side would not be such a bad thing.

Indoctrination
after that

Leave the kid alone Harry, she seems to have a pretty good grasp
of the issue.

Allow a fool to rush in...

If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain.
This quotation has been mis-attributed to Winston Churchill.

Personally, I've never really noticed any significant correlation between whom a newspaper endorses and that person winning the election, especially in the case of the Sarasota Herald Democrat Tribune's endorsements. Hopefully, this trend will continue.
