I find it so hard to read stories like this. My heart and prayers go out to this woman and her family (along with the others). I will never forget what those ignorant savages did to all of us, nor will I forgive them. It's not in me to do that. My compassion is for the innocent ones = the people on the planes, in the buildings, going to work, going on vacation, going about their lives. It will be a happy day when this country gets its retribution from those evil creatures that have done nothing but bring terror, hate and fear to the world.
Thank you for reminding us what we need to do = pray and get involved.

In our part of the world we see this love of family. In other parts of the world families think it's right and natural to strap bombs on and kill innocents.
In our part of the world many of us think that the teachings of Christ are the way. Teachings of love and peace. In other parts of the world the followers of Allah are taught to kill, conquer and control.
Our part of the world and the other part of the world are in for a fight. It's coming.

This one kicked me in the stomach a little harder than the others. I guess because I'm raising a three-year-old son and a one-year-old daughter in the NJ suburbs. I don't know how my wife would communicate such news to them.
This is also very well written.

Our part of the world and the other part of the world are in for a fight. It's coming. It's been here for a thousand years.
It's been hot, it's been cold. It's hot now.
It's about to get a lot hotter.

This was her son, and she would tell him about Andy her way, in her time, and that would be her small victory against the people who sought to destroy their lives. There's a very large part of me that is hoping W is thinking in this very same way. On his terms, on his timing, and maybe, an internal small victory for the man that was at the top. It sure seems to be moving in that direction. Let's Roll!

Little Christine was Gnats age, give or take a month; bin Ladens lackeys killed her - and did so to ensure that other fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters died as well, preferably by the tens of thousands. This little girls death wasnt even a comma in the manifesto they hoped to write. They made sure that her last moments alive were filled with horror and blood, screams and fear; they made sure that the last thing she saw was the desperate faces of her parents, insisting that everything was okay, were going to see Mickey, holding out a favorite toy with numb hands, making up a happy lie. And then she was fire and then she was ash. Karen Hughes was good about personalizing things for voters. She should have had Bush use something like this on 9/20. I guess the reason he didn't is that he wanted to keep things calm. He didn't want us killing every Muslim we saw. A bit of good, raw rage against your enemy isn't all bad, though, Mr. President. You have another chance when we go after Saddam Hussein to make us understand the horror that these people want us to experience.

Lilecks.com is one of the better weblogs, IMHO. Sometimes boring, but really worth reading from time to time. The rest of the stuff on the site is related to the authors publications, which can be pretty funny.
For the good stuff, look for the Daily Bleat.
The next best thing to FReepin'. Of course, from FReepin', the next best thing is pretty far down.

I was in Washington, DC on September 11th, and I was planning to finally meet in real life a few people I'd worked with over email and the phone for dinner that evening.
They died at their posts in the Pentagon.

Man, that sucks. Sorry to hear about it.
A few of my former coworkers died in the initial hit. After I left my job at Marsh & McLennan in midtown, part of my group was moved down to the WTC.
Oddly, if I was still working there, that move would have probably prompted me to stay with the company. I thought those buildings were gorgeous, and would have been absolutely thrilled to work there.

This is but one HEART-WRENCHING story out of nearly 3000 more of the same. Next time someone tells you we should have a national debate about removing Saddam Hussein from power, please consider punching him squarely in the nose.
