If you see a book on a bookshelf with the title "The Yellow King" on its spine, DO NOT OPEN IT, or you will be lost forever. Cthulu is waiting.

Heh, its nice to see some other Lovecraft fans around. Funny article, I'm filing that away for future reading. Here is a link to a Random Lovecraft Story Generator, pretty funny as well. BTW, I have a 2 megabyte ZIP file that contains all of Lovecraft's stories, poems, and essays in .txt format; FReepmail me with your email address if you'd like a copy, and I'll send it to you.

Hastur, Hastur, Hastur. Now I've done it.

A friend of mine always gives that as his name at restaurants: "Hastur... Order ready for Hastur..." He's careful to go pick up his food before the third call, of course. No sense taking chances.

Maybe Bin Laden's brain is sitting in a steel cylinder and even now winging its way to Yuggoth.

Of course, it all makes sense now! Bin Laden as a modern Alhazred, labouring tirelessly as a foul servant of monstrous, foetid, tentacled abominations from the nether abyss. Perhaps he is, in fact, none other than the crawling chaos Nyarlathotep himself. If so, then the best any of us can hope for is to descend into incurable, eternal, skull-wrenching madness.
Oh, the horrour!

The preceding was found among the tattered, ichor-soaked papers of Professor Ephraim Winthrop Clark, late Professor of Blasphemous & Unwholesome Astronomical, Oceanographic, and Ancient Semitic Studies of Kingsport Community College. This is not what sane and balanced people know.

Shouldn't that have been WAS Usama Bin Laden a Cthulhu Cultist?
To: tictoc
Osama's holy book was inspired by the same forces that brought forth the Necronomicon, so there could be something to this. ;)

I used to read Lovecraft in junior high school. Honestly I can say he was one of the few authors I couldn't put down at night because I knew when I did I would have to turn the lights off. Lost most of the books in a move a few years back

Thanks for your kind offer, however - gulp! - I fear that two megabytes of Lovecraft might overwhelm my already accursed operating system (out of Redmond, natch) and make it give up its shambling, blueish bile-dripping ghost.

egarvue, I see that tictoc declined your kind offer due to his difficulty with a 2 mg file, but I'm not hampered by such a thing, so, may I ask, if you could zap that zip text to me. I'd love to have HPLovecraft sitting in my Mac, waiting to be read again by me.
Please forgive me for butting in, and being so bold, but this is a treasure worth the risk.
Really a great article, by the way, thanks, tictoc.

Lovecraft is still my favorite! 40 yeasrs ago I got hooked. The Dunwitch Horror and The Rats in the Walls are still my favorite! I couldn't sleep for a week! I told some of my friends about these stories. They read them and said they scared the pea water out of them! Great stuff
