I'll make this short and sweet. I have not seen evidence for a reason to invade Iraq or demand a regime change there.
Okay, Saddam gassed his own people twelve years ago or so. There have been multiple accusations of his development of weapons of mass destruction, including biological and chemical weapons development.
All the TV footage I see of Saddam Hussein is about 10 years old. Show me the evidence.
You failed to address my point regarding Germany. Germany was stockpiling for a decade. Plus keep in mind that it didn't happen in 12 years cause we disrupted him.
France against publishing secret documents on Iraq's weapons programs
.. Ask yourself .. why are the French Officals so worried??
The most obvious case occured by Klinton and Reno at Waco. I'm sure there are others too.
My point is this: what's the difference between Sadaam Hussein and Janet Reno?
If the threat of a foreign power using chemical weapons is just cause for war, should not the deed of actually using them against US citizens be a crime?
Until this adminstration goes after the criminals the used chemical weapons at Waco, their argument against Iraq (with respect to chemical weapons) holds no credibility.
He has continued breathing in oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide.
Maybe when Saddem uses his bag of goodies .. Maybe then some will take notice
But somehow .. I doubt it
The answers I'm getting aren't too encouraging thus far.
We've proven that we can be trusted with nuclear and biological weapons, since we've fought several wars and never used them. We show restraint in the face every attack, insult, and acusation. We use our power to protect small, weak nations, not invade them (although we could with laughable ease). We allow and encourage dissent and college demonstrations, and don't urn them over with tanks. We race to suport and rescue every nation in the face of their worst crises ever, not intentionally cause them.
. . and what's more, it ACCURATE! :)
No, but as a country we were pissed and willing to accept or do anything to seek justice.
In 1991 Iraqi invaded another country, real easy to see why we went to war.
Today, looks a lot political, even though it is not, thanks to the media.
Bush will have to make a strong case to go, and I think he will.
Link to that testimony please.
Oh, we've got all the legality we need in SJ Res 23. Congress authorized Bush to be the sole arbiter of who or what was involved in 9/11, and to take military action based upon his conclusions alone.
"International law," of course, does not exist. They can write up all the pretty little UN resolutions and pacts and treaties they want, but at the end of the day, the US government is only responsible to the US Constitution.
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm .. we were in the middle of a war .. a war Japan would not end ..
Let's just say we're finishing up what we started to do in '91 but for some crazy reason we halted and signed a cease fire (with conditions). Those conditions were violated. We'll resume play at the line of scrimmage. The other side has no timeouts left.
1. Hussein has done, or will do in the future, bad things.
2. We wish to strike fear into the hearts of Hussein's tyrant brothers so that in the future the mere suggestion that "you're next" will cause them to act appropriately. (This seems to have worked with Gadafy.)
3. We need to ensure our oil supplies.
So stuff the evidence -- two outta three works for me.
