GREAT speech!
I have heard Pat say on tv (I think during the 2000 campaign season) that he tried not to use his "celebrity" to promote his political views because the two were entirely separate.
As much as I'd like to see him speaking out more, I have to respect that stand. He would be the hypocrite that he says the others are if he used his fame that way.
It's a shame though because he is certainly eloquent in this speech!
To clarify: I don't think making a convocation speech to a small college audience qualifies as stating his views on the national stage ..... and I wonder how many such speeches he has made through the years of which we are unaware.
