Can I ask a silly question? Allowing women to be members of a golf club does NOT mean that guys have to golf with them. I guess I just don't understand the He-Man Women Hater's Club aspect to this.

This isn't woman hating. This is privacy and the facts spelled out in the written response are right on the mark. When will Grambling be forced to integrate? Those good people work with federal funding.

Well, if you understood, you certainly wouldn't call it that...

A good analogy for requiring mixed-sex golf courses would be requiring mixed-sex rest rooms. In both activities, women take longer and require different facilities (e.g., shorter tees).

I have no horse in this race except hoping someone will win a fight with NOW. This may be the one!

Who says they hate women?

If I and three of my buddies decide to get together and play poker on a Wednesday night, is this a constitutional issue? Do we have a right to gather in my friend's basement, free of females, and while away the hours? Or do I neeed to consult Martha Burk?

The same goes for the National. If 300 old guys decide they want to play golf, free of the female presence, good luck to them. Why should it be anyone else's business.

I'd quite like to join Cory Everson's Fitness Centers and cop an eyeful of women in leotards but they won't let me in.

Burk is a fascist.

I guess I just don't understand the He-Man Women Hater's Club aspect to this.

There is a lot deliberately left out of the argument by the grumpy women's groups. 1.) Augusta is a private golf club of about 300 people. This isn't a million member men's only group we're talking about.

2.) No one's application is being denied here, there are no applications to deny. Members join through invitation only, how they're selected is their own business.

3.) It's freaking expensive. Yearly membership costs are probably well over $30,000.

4.) No pool, just golf. Family-friendly ammenities like a swimming pool are missing from Augusta.

The question isn't why women can't be admitted for membership; it is more along the lines of how many unmarried women live in Georgia, love golf, socialize with Augusta members, don't have kids to raise or entertain, and oh by the way have an extra 30 grand to toss around each year on a club membership.

Because the women will get in the club and after a few years they will start to bit-- about everything. The male members will become fearful and will constantly alter their natural behavior to avoid offending the female members and getting a letter of reprimand.

It's a country club thing, not a golf thing. Throughout history, men, just as women, have wanted someplace to go that is men only. Now there are only a VERY few amount of places that do that.

Do you deny that men and women act differently when not in the presence of a member of the opposite sex? It's in our biology.

Also, I am sure others here have noticed, especially if they were members of "Men Only" clubs that later started allowing women (usually by court order) the women would then start filing suits or raising all hell to have the club CHANGE its activities that had been going on since the club started.

Women often complain that they can't get in, and then when they do get it they complain about what goes on in there.

Sure, just as allowing men to be members of a female only health club does NOT mean that women have to lift weights with them. I guess I just don't understand the She-Woman Man Hater's Club aspect to this.

Can men not belong to brotherhood organizations anymore. There are exclusively women organizations and affilitates all over the country, and I'm willing to gander that the number of female exclusive clubs is higher than the number of male exclusive clubs.

Augusta National is a private club, and it has a right to allow whoever it wants. It has a right to be an all-mens club if it so chooses.

Why are you equating the freedom of association, as well as brotherhood, with hating. That's a communist ploy, and its time people stopped being deceived by such.

"Can I ask a silly question?"

No. Just remember: when the going gets tough the tough go shopping.
