A question that was just posed to Donald Rumsfeld from one of the pool reporter's there at the Pentagon was "What proof do you have that Saddam is developing or has nuclear weapons or other weapons of mass destruction?"
Rumsfeld-"That case will be made in the next couple of days and weeks for everyone to see"
Now between this comment that he just said and what Tony Blair said this morning....does it appear to all of you that game is on in the coming weeks for real?

Actually, I called it for just BEFORE midnight, which makes the attack occur at 3:30 EDT - on a Sunday.

I would think evidence that Iraq has trained Al-Qaeda members in the use of chemical and biological weapons would be enough to com=nvince everyone. We have already heard these stories from defectors. If these stories can be convincingly shown to be genuine, the combination of WMDs and a connection with 9/11 ought to do it. At least before Saddam is dead. Afterwards, we may get to hear the whole thing.

And he's addressing the nation at 9:01 pm on 9/11 from NYC.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Someone who else who has noticed the subtleties of what is being said by the Administration and what is not being said. The media and punditry focusing on the upcoming WAR, when no such thing has been proposed.
There's a BIG difference!
To: babble-on
What difference is there? Care to point out the what was more agressive? lol...days and weeks in there and that will be answered in the coming days and weeks. I think we know what is going on here...eveything is being lined up.

..all stock markets crash due to the liklihood of a nuclear strike on BaghdadMy how dramatic. If anyone thinks we are going to nuke Baghdad over a few tablespoonfuls of Anthrax that managed to kill a half dozen people, they are delusional. The world would rightly condemn us for such an act.

They're real close to you. You launch? We launch. Which area of our country are you willing to sacrifice for their first launch?...Yours?
To: Mitchell
"
I wonder what they're waiting for?"
Troop movement. A slow, methodical, undetectable movement.
To: My Favorite Headache
This is a reach but I want to put it out there....
I listen to Quinn and Rose out of Pittsburgh....Quinn called the day we launched against the Taliban...back last October.
Quinn is now saying his source is saying .....we launch on Iraq around Sept. 15th..

I could live with that

No way. The US hasn't 1/4 the amount of troops it needs in the region as we speak.
Actually, time is on the US' side. The longer this is talked, simmered, stewed, and burned to a crisp, the more time the Iraqi military has to do something really cool. And the longer the US has for a gradual buildup of troops, ships, planes, etc.
The only folks that are anxious are you and I, and Saddam Hussein.

"I guess I'll never trust our power elite."
Would you trust the power elite, if you were the power elite?

Every day we get stronger in the Gulf....I think we could launch right now with what we have in theater.
This will be sooner rather than later...the longer it goes.....the better chance Saddam has in bringing the Euro weenies and the UN in.

You are also giving them the 'out' of plausable deniability. So, by yout account they can develop WMD, then accidentially 'lose' one.
Then it ends up in Seattle on a cargo ship.....

And he's addressing the nation at 9:01 pm on 9/11 from NYC. And he is meeting with Congressional leaders tomorrow morning with the topic - Iraq.
And, from an article today about Tony Blair's address at Sedgewick:
With regard to strong opposition to the war among the British public, Blair suggested that this was through the lack of information and said he would be bringing forward the publication of evidence against Saddam within the next few weeks.

Based on what both UK and now also US officials are saying, they must have the evidence already. I wonder what they're waiting for. This is standard operating procedure in the Bush Whitehouse. He does not get ruffled by the pressure from the press. He has said over and over - he has not made a decision yet.
He is weighing all pros and cons very deliberately, is planning very deliberately and will move to the educating the public portion just as deliberately.
This has been shown in how the attack on Afghanistan was done, the China situation, the stem cell decision. There is nothing rash about this president.
I am so thankful that I have the Bush team to handle these situations for us. Trust has been built by this man's team and that trust will help us now.

British Defence Secretary, Geoff [pron. Jeff] Hoon, will be giving an address at the University of Louisville, Ky. in a couple of days, I believe, in connection with a prolonged (ie about a week) visit to the USA, and he will be very near President Bush for most or all of that time.
It seems custom-made for a sudden joint declaration as by both Defence Secretaries, for example...of what amounts to war on Iraq and possibly other Mideast nasties. Don't forget Sudan, murderer of millions of Christians, last refuge of Al-Qaeda, and which now is holding the AQ gold reserve!

The only caveat I'd offer is that Bush may avoid beginning an active war before the election. This would probably be a mistake -- but I understand the White House thinking not to appear like Billyjeff ("Wag the Dog") Clinton. Which is why I am still thinking there will be SOME SORT of a 'precipitating event' that will escalate the necessity for attack. No idea WHAT the event will be...and am NOT saying it will be manufactured---at all. Just a gut level thing that this will be PRE-ELECTIONS.
