The text emphasized what has become - to the chagrin of the radicals - the theme of this conference, that economic progress is directly linked to environmental progress.

Well, duh. Don't expect the radicals to understand that, though.

What little global warming we have had is only since 1960, and would need to go five times as far as it has, just to get us back to where we were in 1820-75 approx, a warm period... I think cows were farting a lot back then.

It would have to go some 40 times as far as it has, to get us back to where we were in the AD 750-1250 era, when it was rumored that Irish and English monks responded with a lot of hot air to Viking raids on their coasts.

But for a prolonged period from (say 5000 to some 2100 BC, the climate was as if we had gone some EIGHTY to 100 times the move seen since 1960: Vermont had a climate then like Atlanta does now, and the Iceman wandered the High Alps without obstruction from ice.

God, and the variable temperatures of the areas of space that the Earth is traversing, account for these things, and human activity is laughable in comparison.

People in poor countries burn wood (that's "dead trees" you e-wackos). Let them burn fossil fuels and the environment will be cleaner.

The environmental whackos consider the human race to be like dandelions in a nice green lawn. They want to exterminete the human race. If they could spray us with Roundup, they'd be happy.

If you're lucky. A lot of places they burn dried out "patties" or "pellets", produced as a by product of animals.

Try the aroma of a 3,000 person village in Africa, cooking millet and/or rice over 500 $#!+ fires at 7 pm nightly. Made me long for the air quality of LA...

People in poor countries burn wood

Strictly speaking, wood is a renewable resource. But of course, that's beside the point.

Ouch. Although, it was an effective way to lose weight. Amazing how uninterested in food you can get when its cooked over crap.

To the contrary, it directly links energy use, in general, to the alleviation of poverty.

Which is understood too well by the poof elites who wish to keep the masses barefoot and pregnant and poor as dirt.

Said poofy elite declares jihad on the flush toilet and thus qualifies for being stuffed through the seat of a porta-potty and rolled down a steep embankment.

Greenpeace should definitely be helped to save the planet--just not this planet.

Shoot them beyond Mars--perhaps to someplace not subject to "global warming". . .say, Pluto.

Good call...along that line, although a different point..I'll bet you every enviro-whacko has at least one can of Raid in their cabinets. They are the epitome of double talk. They chastise us for recklessly treating the earth while they put up their retaining walls and make sure they get rid of that icky crab grass. And you know if any ants get in the house there will be hell to pay...a little Tarot anyone?

It is simply amazing what the Bush administration is accomplishing on so many fronts in such a short time!

Any honest reading of history shows that a nation that prospers begins to aggressively address pollution because as it prospers, it becomes rich enough to do so.

Wow! Wow! Wow! I have NEVER been so proud of an American administration as I am of the Bush team!
