THE GREATEST RADIO HOST IN THE WORLD, and the BIGGEST MORONS I EVER HEARD OF
Posted on 09/02/2002 10:00:08 PM PDT by Cinnamon Girl
The most brilliant, the most eloquent, the most entertaining talk show host on the air today, Michael Medved, has had his show spiked like a so-called meat burger in a middle school cafeteria dumpster. Apparently, his so-called home station in Seattle decided that Michael needed to be replaced by the Sean Hannity show.
I guess it shouldn't matter to me as long as I can still hear Michael every day, but after hearing his inspirational, and astounding holiday special today about "G-d's Hand in American History," I can't imagine that any station manager with a brain in his head would want to give this guy up.

Okay, so, I know I wrote a freeper report last week about going to see Sean Hannity in LA with a bunch of friends, but I still listen to Michael's show. Sean Hannity seems like a very decent man and he is very charismatic, but he's no Michael Medved. If you want to get pumped for the big game, you listen to assistant coach Hannity. If you want to know the history of the game, the repercussions the game will have on tensions in the middle east, and how we can win, you listen to Medved.
Thoughts?

Thoughts? That's the first I've heard of this.
How about
NOOOO!!!!
To: Cinnamon Girl
One.
Which host -- Hannity or Medved -- defended Klinton against the impeachment charges?
To: Cinnamon Girl
Medved is very intelligent and well informed, but his prissiness and arrogance get tiresome after a while. In addition, he's the worst movie reviewer in the biz. (A couple of weeks ago he hailed the film Signs as the "scariest movie he's ever seen." Not only was the movie the very farthest thing from "scary," but it was a piece of drek to boot).

Michael Medved Who? The name is not familiar.
The most brilliant, the most eloquent, the most entertaining talk show host on the air today, Michael Medved
Please reference the above, "Who?" statement.
He may be brillant in your city, but he is a nobody in my town. Not a slam, mind you - is he national? I'd like to give a listen if he is.
If he is not national, I'd think you might want to re-word the best in the universe bit.
Just a thought.

"Not only was the movie the very farthest thing from "scary," but it was a piece of drek to boot." Thank goodness I'm not the only one who thought Signs was weak.

Thank goodness I'm not the only one who thought Signs was weak. Far from the only one. Not one person I know liked it even marginally, but people have different tastes. What I find unbelievable, though, is that anyone could find it scary.

I agree! I was very upset when I heard the news. I live near Seattle and this isn't the first time the station has made a bone-headed decision. They fired local host John Carlson, only to hire him back a few years later.
I happen to like Hannity -- but not enough to need to hear him live. Hannity is charming, cute and entertaining. But, let's face it, he's not the brightest guy. His arguments are trite and simplistic. His words are redundant and his "debate" style is to shout over people.
Michael Medved is brilliant and unique. I really think KVI made a dumb move. But it is all about the ratings.

Neither
To: LasVegasMac
He is national and he used to be a guest-host for Rush, until he got his own national show. Rush is very insecure about such things. He won't let anyone with a national show guest-host for him.
To: Cinnamon Girl
Nationally, Medved's show is carried on the Salem Network, and I think KVI got rights to his show only because he was broadcasting from their studios.
Give it a few weeks, and I'll bet a dollar to your donut he'll be picked up by KOL (the little station that could).
1300 AM - also home to the sublime Hugh Hewitt and Dennis Prager. Cheers!

I didn't finds Signs scary, but I did like it. I'm not surprised you didn't like it. Guys have to have "action".

BTTT I am in the Seattle area and just found out about this tonight. The station manager at KVI is Paul Duckworth. His number is 206.515.3095. If you go to the KVI website you'll also see a comment line number. This is unbelievable. Michael Medved is a STAR, syndicated and coming LIVE from KVI Seattle. They dump him to bring in a syndicated news/entertainer.(God love ya Hannity but you're not a great intellect or historian.)
MIchael is a brain and has an amazing knowledge of American and middle east history. His tapes are incredible and engaging. KVI screwed up big time on this. Now they have only locals and no syndicated "stars" live. Sean Hannity OTOH is on TV and was heard before on KVI at 6:00. Now they have lost a fine braodcaster so Hannity can come on at 12:00. Unbelievable. You Seattle/WA people please CALL and let your disagreement be known. Duckworth should get on his knees and beg Michael back.

Ditto!

Sure, SIGNS is atmospherically scary, to a point--but it wouldn't make the top 50 or top 100 in scariness. I thought it was well done, but a bit silly.
To: The Person
I don't think it was meant to be "scary". I think the aliens were just the vehicle for a movie about signs in life.
To: soccermom
Don't think Rush's "insecurity" has any thing to do with.
I doubt Rush feels threatened at all.
I would be willing to bet that the syndicator's don't want it because due to tape delay broadcasting, time zones, etc., there's a real possibility that Medved could be competing with himself.
To: IslandJeff
According to the article, he has a non-compete in the Seattle area until Jan. 2, 2003.
Says he will be back on the air in Seattle then.
