A Foxfire man is in custody on charges of slashing the throats of three children in Aberdeen Saturday.
Twenty-two-year-old Justin Michael Martin faces three counts of attempted murder and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.
Constance, Cathy and James Holdsworth are in guarded condition at Moore County Regional hospital. They're between 12 and 15 years old. A hospital spokeswoman says they underwent surgery to repair their wounds.
Police were called to their home around two o'clock Saturday morning. Sheriff's officials say each of the siblings had their throats cut. Officials say evidence at the scene indicated one of the children woke up during the attack and attempted to resist, causing the attacker to flee.
Authorities say Martin worked with the children's father at Seven Lakes Heating and Air and was spending the night with the family. Police say Martin had been drinking heavily that night.
Martin's being held under a million dollars bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for September 19th.
