You are right, we disagree. I believe the animal is dangerous and should be subject to the same rules as lions, tigers and bears. (Oh my)

I recently have put Rots in with Pit Bulls as dogs that are too nasty for the average person. I have a golden retriever I was taking to training class. Our instructor, a nice, knowledgeable man, loves Rots. He has a Rot that HATES his wife, and his wife has one the HATES him. He is involved with the Rot rescue and invites those dogs to attend his training class. I stopped going to the class because of the attitude of those Rots. They would snarl and growl and lunge at other dogs for no reason. They were also never allowed off-lead. There was also one Rot who was as sweet as can be. So, in my experience, 90% of Rots cannot be trusted. Who wants a dog that they have to treat like an alligator? I just don't get it.

Your right, who want's a dog who acts like a gator that might bite you at any time. But what you don't realize is that there are thousands of these dogs in the U.S. & yes Rottwielers & Pits are at the top of the lists of bad dogs. But 90% is an untrue percentage, I don't have the statistics because there is no way to know who owns what but I would bet that less than 1/2% of Rottwielers or Pits in the U.S. are involved with attacks. Not 90%.

Having been a phone man for years, I spent more time than I would care to, around other people's dogs.
I got bitten many more times by the little ankle biters, don't worry it won't bite, well could you get the little turd off my leg then, than I did large dogs. As a matter of fact I was never bitten by a large dog.
Personally if it is not my dog, I don't want to be around it. I don't care what breed it is.

And you are qualified to make this judgement because...?

It is really looking like you might have an agenda and your first story was crap to help you make your point.

I don't know, maybe they've been both mistreated and misbreed....this is not known as the typical aggressive dog in Germany...they're more aptly described as big bears. I have relatives who own Rott mixes over there with no issues at all. The presumption after a dog bite is also NOT immediately that this is due to the dogs aggressive nature....but people also inquire as to what the human did. I have to say Germany is still very dog friendly, particularly in hotels and restaurants.

I've been around dogs my whole life. The only dog that ever bit me was a Golden. We were in training class with one of our dogs (a rescue Chow) and the Golden decided she wanted the treats I had hidden behind my back. Her owner had let her off lead "just for a second, she's such a sweet dog normally," and she bit my hand to get at the treats. I let out a yell and my Chow started barking, which is when the Golden went for his throat. The owner was shrieking "What did you do to make her act like that?" and the teacher helped me break up the fight.

Maybe that Golden was such a sweet dog normally, but her owner was an idiot.
