The owner is the one who should be in jail. There is no excuse for this.

As an owner of Pit bull dogs I hate it when they get this type of publicity, especially when the dogs dumb@ss owners could have prevented it. This dog should never have been wondering around, period. Now we have to listen to all the opponents of Pit bull dogs bitch, bitch, bitch and in this case rightfully so. If a dog like this attacks someone unprovoked, they shouldn't get a third chance to do it again. I'm not familiar with California, so I don't know if this is a rural area or not. But dogs like this do not belong in the city.

NOPE!!! In California all dogs do not get probation. MY dog didn't. He was shot by the Oakland Police when I called them because I thought someone was breaking in and he ran out the door. Didn't give him a chance. Shot him three times too...just to make sure he was dead. F______ers.

Reintz was viciously attacked by a pitbull on Belle Avenue in Oildale while walking to a friend's house Sunday.

If this had been the DoubleDee, there would be one less mutt terrorizing Belle Avenue right now.

My neighbor had a female pit bull/boxer mix who was the sweetest thing. One time I got an old towel and played tug of war with her over the fence. I was in awe of this dog's power - I held my end ( with both hands ) and she grabbed hers, sat back on her haunches and rip-rip-ripped that towel in half in about 1 minute ! She was about to pull me over the fence. Another day my big black male cat, Pluto, jumped their fence and entered the yard. The dog grabbed him and shook him some, literally scaring the crap out of him. But she didn't aggressively attack and kill him outright which is what I would have expected her to do. She had a loving owner and wasn't a killer. This dog was accustomed to her own cats in the family and didn't want any others in the yard, which is normal. Pluto was in HER yard. He's never jumped their fence again, and they moved two years ago!

Kill the damn dog, and jail the irresponsible owner.

Dogs get stereotyped, too.

I used to have a Dobe back when people thought Dobes were evil. Turns out though, that when someone wanted a mean dog, he'd buy a Dobe, treat it mean, and then, you've got a mean dog.

Used to say 95% people on earth weren't fit to raise dogs, much less children. Guess that's still right.

Oh, everybody blames the poor pit bulls. Actually, they are great, wonderful doggies. We have our first, and I never want any other type now. And they are much more effective than Bowflex. Simply give your pit one end of a tug toy and then reel him in. Now the other arm. Do ten reps. parsy.

I currently rent 1/2 of an old house (buying and moving next month!). The renter in the front part of the house has a pit bull. This dog is the most out of control dog I've ever seen. He has literally crashed through windows in the house to get out to attack people, my husband and the mail man included. The mail man has had to mace the dog on several occasions. I, and almost the entire neighborhood, have complained to the landlord on so many occasions I can't even count. All he says is "so what? She pays her rent and that's all I care about".

Everyone in the neighborhood has complained to animal control, to the police and to the mayor. To no avail. They say that until they actually SEE the dog attack someone there is nothing they can do.

This has gone on for 2 years now. The dog's owner does not care. My husband and I bought all the materials and built her a good, strong pen to put the dog in, but she refuses to use it (after agreeing to use it if we built it). I recently found out that there were numerous troubles with her dog at her previous address also.

I guess someone will have to be killed by this dog before anyone will take action. It is clearly written in the state (AND CITY) law that animal control is responsible for enforcing the law in regards to vicious animals, but they refuse to do it.
