what is it you are so desirous that i learn about homeschooling? til today, i was firmly of the opinion that it was the optimal learning method for children whose parents are equipped to teach their own children. i have come to the realization, after much soul-searching by my husband and i, that it is NOT something we are equipped to do, that it is NOT in the best interest of our children. Like i said the defensiveness and overreaction on this thread, to a statement that there are those that should not homeschool, makes me wonder. i will say it again, you do your cause no credit by taking that attitude.

Guess I missed your posts showing support to homeschoolers. My desire is that you learn facts about homeschooling so your preconceived notions would go by the wayside. That's why I suggested you log on to HSLDA.
Homeschooling is a choice. It's a choice that needs the greatest of calling and commitment. It's not for everybody. I don't slam you for choosing another path for your children's education. I felt as though you were slamming homeschooling in general, based on untrue information.
I do not have a chip on my shoulder and don't posess an 'attitude' against non homeschoolers. I'll thank you to change your thoughts on this.

...til today, i was firmly of the opinion that it was the optimal learning method for children whose parents are equipped to teach their own children. i have come to the realization, after much soul-searching by my husband and i, that it is NOT something we are equipped to do, that it is NOT in the best interest of our children. I think I know how you feel. My sister decided that she'd rather send her kids off to school than teach them at home. I believe she felt somewhat inadequate though she is well educated. She is a very committed Christian, but this didn't seem to be her "cup of tea".
For what it's worth...I am of the opinion that every mother and father are "homeshoolers" whether they realize it or not. I sincerely believe that many parents would be absolutely delighted to homeschool if the process was economically more feasible, and yet those same parents would be suprised to see how it all seems to work out in the end when they make a committment to undertake homeschool despite the financial "impossiblities".
