Since when is homeschooling considered the father's main responsibility? I never heard that before. It would seem to me that whichever parent spends more time with the children should take it on as the main responsibility.

Sorry folks there are some very wacko parents out there... and the one thing they shouldn't do is keep the kids at home. Then they shouldn't have children in the first place.
Most parents are the best persons to teach their children.
The number of children murdered, or mass-murdered even, have occurred at public schools.

thanks for speaking out from that viewpoint. far too many think that homeschooling is for EVERYONE. i will say it again, public school trumps a WACKO homeschooling parent. period.

Then they shouldn't have children in the first place. Fortunately or unfortunately, it is not against the law for wackos to procreate. THEREFORE, it is safer for the progeny of wackos to get their education from someone other than the WACKO PARENT.

i took 2 year maternity leaves with each of the 3 kids, and now work a flexible schedule so as to avoid daycare altogether,Well, sounds like you're managing the best you can, as mostly all parents do. I returned to work in just eight weeks after each of the first two, though I worked graveyard shifts and weekends. I really didn't want to return to work right away, but I didn't have much choice. My boss was great because she was so flexible with my hours. But, when we found out we were expecting the third, my husband asked me to stop working altogether. He earned more money (oh, what a surprise that is, right?), and he couldn't handle them at nights and then go to work at 7:00 a.m. the next morning. I was relieved to be able to get some sleep finally and just concentrate on the kids. Speaking of whom... I should make my exit about now.

That's the father's job. The wife is supposed to help, but it's ultimately the father's responsibility. Sounds like this guy was lax regarding his.So its now the father's job to work and make all the money while his wife stays home. Its also his responsibility to homeschool the kids. What on God's green earth is the mother responsible for? Geez people, there are some wackjobs out here on FR. I can seriously say now that I've heard it all.

Mom homeschools kids for years at husband's wishes
Gets fed up and enrolls kids in Public School for first time last week
Husband and wife argue over schooling status of children
Husband insists wife resume homeschooling Monday Morning
Wife refuses, snaps and kills kids for spite.

I so amazed that it took 136 posts to bring forth an ad hominem attack.

Since when is homeschooling considered the father's main responsibility?Since time immemorial.
Since the Creation.
It was the Hebrew tradition, and carried forward by the Apostles.
Washington, Adams, Lincoln, and even Stonewall Jackson recognized that responsibility.
Your question would not have been asked prior to the 20th Century - it was a given.
I could go on, but I've got to get to work.
Later.

From the parents who adopt them after they are removed by the civil authorities from the home of the "wackos".

It seems obvious you dug this story up only for it's mention of homeschooling. No I dug this story up because it was front page news this morning in MY county. Augusta is 27 miles away from where I live.

The teachers in our little Christian school (around 100 students) only get from $10,000-$13,000 a year. They deserve so much more but are willing to work "cooley wages" in order to have an impact on their students. (Ooops, was I politically incorrect calling them cooley wages???? Did I even spell it right???)
