Well, if you're still thinking about a trip to Texas, New Mexico, or Arizona, you will be totally immersed in God's Country!
And you're quite right...it is a wonderful break from traffic and high rises! Out here, the high rises are mountains, and the traffic comes in the shape of critters or clouds!

Thanks a lot. I enjoyed living in Jacksonville, NC, as a child - around 1959-60 - New River to be specific. Dad was stationed there commuting between LeJune, Cherry Point and Cuba -leading up to the Bay of Pigs in 1961. I remember my Mom and I rode out Hurrican Donna with the help of the LeJune Marines in September of 1960 - because dad had aready moved ahead to Norfolk, VA, where he was stationed at Camp Elmore until his retirement in 1962.
