Hi, neighbor!

I haven't been following this case that closely. The only thing I can't figure out is how this case got to trial so quickly.

I thought the defense filed a motion to the state to bring to trial quickly, just like OJ?

IIRC, the right to a speedy trial is routinely waived, to allow both sides to prepare. In this case, the defense declined to waive that right.

Defendant has the right to a speedy trial. In this case defense did not waive that right. It was a defense strategy to force the prosecution to bring the case to trial with the evidence they already had and not be able to do a more extensive investigation.

Because the defense wanted the defendant to have a "speedy trial" which is his right.
