Lesbian mother and teens reach agreement over lifestyle

Kimla Green says she's willing to put aside her homosexuality in order to have her two girls come home. By Chris Adams ABC13 Eyewitness News (8/19/02) — It's a very private family drama that is now being played out in a very public way in court, with daughters against their mother.

This is a family torn apart by conflicts over homosexuality, the role of religion and the struggle to balance some very difficult facts of life.

Kimla Green walked into a family law courtroom Monday with one simple goal.

"I just want my kids back home right now," said teen girls' mother, Kimla Green.

Green acknowledges that she is sexually attracted to women and that she has brought women to the home she once shared with her two daughters, ages 16 and 17.

The family was before a judge Monday because the two teens asked the court to declare them independent because they object to their mother's gay lifestyle.

For now the girls are with their aunt. Their mother says it didn't have to come to this.

But the girl's attorney, John Breeze said, "Well, obviously there's always two sides to every story."

A Harris County judge transferred to the case Fort Bend County. But in the interim, the two sides appear to have struck a deal.

"We're hoping to have the court read our agreement or hear our agreement and say that it is in the best interest of the children and that will hopefully be the judgment," said the mother's attorney, Lee Jeronimo.

Green says the two girls have been unduly influenced and interfered with by the church they've been attending.

The new deal makes both Green and her daughters give up something.

"Well, my agreement is not to show any type of homosexual lifestyle in front of my kids or to do anything that makes them feel uncomfortable concerning the gay lifestyle. I agree to that as long as they agree not attend the Body of Christ Ministry because of all the brainwashing going on," said Green.

The agreement would reunite the family. It still needs to be approved by a Fort Bend County judge. Everyone's expected back in court there later this month.

The Body of Christ Ministry declined to comment about the case.

a woman *should* leave her violent husband especially if children are involved, I feel is the same spirit which founded this country and did not back down to tyranny and oppression.

"Don't shoot until you see...RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY"

Yeah, that's the spririt, all right.

I have no argument with The Bible, I have a problem with people who hate in the name of God, or use it to justify their un-Christian behavior.

Are you a Chrisitian? If so, then for beginners defend your decidely un-Christian behavior towards Terriergal (insinuating that she is a b*itch), and me for your post #160, If you ever get your head out of your a$$ long enough to actually figure out what I'm talking about... What is the point of discussing the Word of God, if we refuse to allow the Word Himself to cleanse our minds and tongues? Until this issue is addressed, to go on any further with you would be a complete waste of time.

Yes, and I do think you have a problem with the Bible. If you are unwilling to believe the sure and terrible judgment of God against all unrighteousness, it is foolish to think that you will ever know the love and mercy of God.

No need to feel sad for me, I had a great childhood!

it is very clear from the New Testament that turning the other cheek has a high price, even the ultimate price, sometimes

You know as well as I do that those who 'turned the other cheek' in the bible were doing so as they were being so-called punished by the Romans for being Christians....abused women are not being abused because they are Christian but rather because their husbands didn't like the way they washed the dishes, or the clothes they wore that day or etc...big difference.

Take a look at IPeter chapters 2 & 3 and tell me what you think. Pay particular attention to the opening phrase in v.1 of Ch. 3, as it transitions from the persecutions described in Ch.2. The Great Commission gets obeyed in myriad ways. OTH, the grace that covers us extends way beyond where a woman needs to go to protect her children and herself.

I know women in our church that have hung in there way beyond the call of duty (in the world's terms) and been rewarded with a 'new man' in the same husband's body. I also know (quite well) a woman that left her dope dealing hubbie, from concern for their 6 year old boy. I did'nt (and would'nt) tell her that what she is doing is wrong; this woman has a solid faith, and if that is where G-d is leading her, than it is for a reason.

Are you saying she should stay there and shoot him?

The determination not to live under oppression led the people to LEAVE Europe.

When they came after the people here, THEN they shot them. That would be akin to the hubby coming after her, yeah, then I would say, self defense is permissible.

Or actually I misunderstood. What you said *could* be taken either way but now that you emphasised "I" it makes more sense to me.

Thanks but apparently L,TOWM doesn't see the parallel.

If responding to violence with fleeing - or with violence (intended only to stop the violence, not violence intended to gain revenge) - is wrong, it's wrong, even in the founding of our country. I'm not willing to make that step, so I can't say that a woman leaving her violent husband is wrong, or indicative of a lack of faith, or anything of the sort.

Now, there's a subject that you're probably real comfortable with.

"Are you a Chrisitian?"

I am a Christian, if that what you meant to ask.

"If so, then for beginners defend your decidely un-Christian behavior towards Terriergal"

You just can't seem to stop playing God, can you? I owe you no explanation concerning my "behavior", that's between my Lord and myself, don't seek to stand in the way.

"(insinuating that she is a b*itch)"

Hey! If the shoe fits, wear it.

There was no problem between me and Poodle girl before she made a bitchy remark directed at me.

Spade=Spade

"what is the point of discussing the Word of God, if we refuse to allow the Word Himself to cleanse our minds and tongues?"

Is that God thing of yours again acting up! Who are you to judge everyone that comes across your path?

Passing judgement on others with unclean hands...shame on you.

"Until this issue is addressed, to go on any further with you would be a complete waste of time."

Cool, then there will be no response to this, I like getting the last word in.

"Yes, and I do think you have a problem with the Bible."

That and $3.70 will get you a Vente coffee at Starbucks.

"If you are unwilling to believe the sure and terrible judgment of God against all unrighteousness, it is foolish to think that you will ever know the love and mercy of God."

It isn't the "sure and terrible judgement of God" that I have a problem with, it is the bile and hate spewed by so-called Christians that I have a problem with, and the fact that they believe that God's tender mercies will be rained on those who hate like they/you do.

Now, smile!

Jesus loves you!

You may be in for a rude awakening one day.

Your use of the word "MAY" indicates you are not familiar with God's judgment, God's Word, or God's love. Love doesn't declare evil good.

I'm not used to that, at least not anymore. My pastors are all godly, spirit-led men and it's a lot different there than it was in some of the mainline churches I used to attend. He sounds like a legalistic pastor with very little compassion for the sinners in his congregation. I can only assume that, however, since he's not my pastor and I've never sat under his teaching. If he had a problem with her behavior, he needed to do what the Bible says and to go to her privately and speak to her. Then if she doesn't listen, take another one with you as witness. Saying things to her out loud in a congregation is cruel.

And counterproductive, too.
