So basically we can be promiscuous and be "progressive" like people in the Amazon who live in mud huts. Or we can be "regressive" and monogamous and live in modern industrial societies.

Hmm.

High infidelity, remarriage and divorce rates may have less to do with modernity than with our collective sexual past.

These people will apparently do or say anything to forward their agenda. Our entire morals structure should somehow be based on what a tribe does in Brazil? Goodness forbid they have to do with the laxation of morality in our society. Do what makes you feel good is more important today than do what you know is right. Wonder if there's been a study of the past 200 years comparing morality changes and church attendance.

Well, gee, how wonderful to chose a sexual morality that leaves one's society running naked through the jungle in stone age conditions, isn't it? How uplifting. Great reccommendation. I notice there are no pics of these delighted canela women.

Is this for real, even?

"It begins to crop up in a lot of places," says Beckerman, who has reviewed dozens of reports on tribes from South America, New Guinea, Polynesia and India...

OK lets see, a few remote tribes versus the monogamy present in the entire western world. Hmmm ... which system seems to work better I wonder......

"Slutty" behavior is good for the species.

Haven't the Democrats been telling us this for years?

So tiresome. When defending lesbians, it is important to say that all the evidence indicates that Fathers are not needed.

However ... when attempting the defend heterosexual promiscuity we say:

a child could, and ideally ought to, have more than one father

The left is incapable of rational thought.

San Fransisco Chronicle or the Bogus News Network? Or are they one in the same? We report, you decide.

Women said they'd like maybe up to five partners in a lifetime. Men in various surveys ranged from 18 up to 1,000.

LOL! If men desire only 18-1000 partners in a lifetime, then why do Repukie pols like Bobdole, Newtie, Watermelon Dan, and "Hank" Hyde have so many more than the average? Inquiring minds like MurryMom would like to know.

>>More than 20 tribal societies accept the principle that a child could, and ideally ought to, have more than one father<<

And, if you want to live the way they do, this is the perfect way to make it happen.

Oh great, let's base "normal" sexuallity on the most primative race we can find.

Anyone else see the logical falicies here?

Anthropologists say female promiscuity binds communities closer together and improves the gene pool.

Yes, nothing a man likes better than to hang out with folks who know he was cuckolded.

Obviously, "Crimes of Passion" are a complete myth.

More than 20 tribal societies accept the principle that a child could, and ideally ought to, have more than one father, according to Pennsylvania anthropologist Stephen Beckerman.

Interesting, all the societies he cites seem to stuck in the stone age. They never developed a high level of technology. They also have primitive economies. How would anyone start a family business? For that matter why would anyone bother trying to ensure that his offspring enjoy a higher standard of living than he did or his father did?

You naughty girl!

P.S. - We came in 13th out of about 65 in the big tourney, not bad, but......
Overall a great day (box was full, started throwing back keepers), but the fish were deep! most were caught in about 70' of water.

So the SF Chronicle says, among other things, that gays are naturally monogamous but females are naturally promiscuous.

Right, and "The Sky was Yellow and the Sun was Blue..."

"Slutty" behavior is good for the species. That's the conclusion of a new wave of research on the evolutionary drives behind sexuality and parenting.

A wave of bogus research. Anyone worth their salt in that field can tell you that monagamy = relatively bulletproof security from sexually transmitted disease. Of course, we wouldn't have any presupposed agendas in this research would we...

More than 20 tribal societies accept the principle that a child could, and ideally ought to, have more than one father, according to Pennsylvania anthropologist Stephen Beckerman. "It begins to crop up in a lot of places," says Beckerman, who has reviewed dozens of reports on tribes from South America, New Guinea, Polynesia and India as co-editor of the newly released book, "Cultures of Multiple Fathers."

All of said tribes having a looong healthy lifespans and enjoying the benefits of all the modern amenities they developed with their free time and saved resources from kids having multiple fathers. I wonder if the authors also tout the memory and spirit enhancing charachteristics imparted to some of those New Guinea tribes from eating human brains? (Remember kuru, a spongiform encephalopy)...

I'd be willing to bet these conclusions are reached after heavy sorting and filtering of any data contradictory to the desired results.
