It's sunny, 75 degrees and low humidity, here in Fargo. My commute (the longest in the city) took 15 minutes through farm fields. Best SAT scores in the nation. Bums don't venture this far north. My 3,600 sq. ft. house cost well under $200K. Garbage bill is $7.00 a month. Neighborhood empties Sunday morning for services. "Cultural Conservatism" is mentioned regularly and favorably. Among the lowest tax rates in the nation. All levels of government have avoided tax hikes this year.

I'm a recent transplant from Seattle, one of several West Coast cess pools of humanity, and I'm loving it.

Shhhhhhhhhh. My neighbor's (2 doors down, about 1/2 mile from us) were robbed this past Saturday - mid-morning - so now I'm paranoid.

Had heard that Fargo was a pretty good place to live then looked at crime statistics. West Fargo looks great but the much larger Fargo seems to have real problems with some spill over to West Fargo involving burglary etc. Comment?

Maybe so, but it was one of the worst movies of the last decade.

Glad you like it there. Obviously, a milder climate permitting some outdoor activity, ranked higher on my scale than on yours.

I had an ancestor who farmed in NE SOUTH Dakota for a generation, and they always loved it and wanted to go back every summer...

But I notice you posted your GARBAGE bill, not your HEATING bill, on a 3600-ft house in Fargo!

Yea Brad! But you forgot to mention the 100 below zero wind chill days....I spent an extra night in minn/st. paul because the pilots couldn't see the runway through the driving snow storm.....

Neighborhood empties Sunday morning for services.>>

Isn't this nice. We experience this in our little alcove in central Ohio as well. Stores are quiet most of the day on Sunday--well maybe a little busy, but not until mid afternoon--3ish, well after services. Roads are absolutely quiet on Sunday except for when church is going on and then it's only into and out of the parking lots;-) You'll rarely find a garage sale on Sunday(something I'd never seen in other places I'd lived) I'm thinking for the same reason--people are busy at church on Sunday morning.

BTW, we moved from Phoenix and I hear you on not missing it. AZ was great for some things like homeschooling, but the culture and political climate was changing for the worst between illegals and Californians moving in.

Is that North or South Dakota (pardon my ignorance). I think I'll head out that way.
