It used to be the poor could ask if they confessed their sins. Nowadays the left insist that they bash America, black mail it and demand the money.

"Two-thirds of all babies born in Los Angeles´ public hospitals are the children of illegal immigrants," This should reveal the magnitude of our problem.

And very likely not ONE paid their own way. We have too much Socialism to be allowing in every indigent illiterate person who wants an easier life. The county hospitals are demanding extremely high taxes of the locals but still running deeply in the red. Socialism brought down the Soviet Union and will also destroy us.

I suppose its a good sign we are seeing so many of this kind of article, even in spite of the harpies who regularly show up to denounce anyone who speaks ill of the salt-of-the-earth illegal.

But I wonder if its not too late.

Hispanic citizens form a vital, emerging part of our beautiful state

I'm sorry I cannot agree with that. Living in California for almost fifty years, one cannot see the damage that has been done by this massive immigration from our southern border.

It is not if, but when California and the United States will be part of Mexico.

Here in the Silicon valley, neighborhoods look more like the worst burios of Mexico. Stores clerks, waiters and waitresses, who until recently have been bright young college students, are being replaced by the non-English speaking unkept Coyotes. Frustrated shoppers are plagued by this problem throughout all of Santa Clara County. Hispanic street gangs are increasing at an alarming rate, but the police tread lightly on this problem in fear of being sued for racism. Instead, they concentrate their efforts at illegal smoking in bars. The politicians, both Democrat and Republican, will not face this issue in fear of being labeled xenophobic.

The immigrants who are crossing our borders, mostly illiterate in their own language, will not blend into our culture. Except for a small number of the elite, this is not a good thing for California in any way shape or form.

If the information at the Center for Immigration Studies is correct, that the average illegal alien will use $55,000 more in social services, in their lifetime, than they'll pay for.

We're losing $550 million dollars everytime another 10,000 illegal aliens cross the borders.

As many as 10,000 are crossing in a single day, now.

The author's right. We just can't afford this anymore.

We must not support any candidate for public office who is not for "Zero Illegal Immigration."

This is exactly the position that I am taking in November and in 2004. Any candidate that favors guest worker programs or amnesty gets a no vote from me. If that means I have to stay home and not vote, so be it. I will not help put another GWB in office.

There are a lot of good common sense points in this article.
