Take Gen. Maureen Dowd. For those of you in Palm Beach county, Gen. Dowd unquestionably stands among the world's most preeminent thinkers -- a venerable authority not just on military affairs, but on darn near everything you can think of. Whether it's brokering peace in the Middle East, to the sex lives of Hollywood apotheosis Michael Douglas, Gen. Dowd has the answers.
Heck, my motto is, 'when in doubt, just ask Gen. Dowd -- she's the sage'.
Stop! You're making my sides hurt with laughter. Then I read the rest of the article. Well done! Dowd, et al can only aspire to this sort of wit and clarity.

Absolutely one of your very best, JH2!
"1) Forget about being pro-active. Be reactive. Pretend 9/11 never happened. Bury your head in the sand. Wait till the enemy strikes first, then, and only then, strike back. Wait till he hits us with weapons of mass destruction -- then react."
So, just how many times will we allow them to "strike first"? Hmmmmm?
IMHO, RINOs are wussies.

Two critiques...
First, the author ignores many of the conservatives that oppose a war with Iraq and focuses on the liberals that hold that position. Secondly, the author fails to provide a compelling argument that Iraq presents a clear threat to our national security.

There's one good shot in the recent movie about Pearl Harbor.
The sergeant (in front of a large window with the attacking Japanese Zero's torpedoing and bombing our battleships in the harbor) saying to the lieutenant...
"There's your confirmation!"
When it comes to Saddam, I'm not willing to wait and see if he's going to be nice to us and not nuke D.C.

I'm still waiting for a compelling argument for not going after Iraq's little dictator. He's already tried to assassinate one president, gassed his people, invaded three countries- all unprovoked, lobbed missiles at a neutral country in an effort to draw it and Arab nations into conflict, promoted suicide bombing, attempted to block the fresh water supplies of Persian Gulf nations, mined the Persian Gulf, struck at unarmed commercial tanker ships, deliberately set about pumping a non-hostile nation's oil into the Gulf, harbored and funded terrorists who have deliberately killed civilians, permitted al Qaeda terrorists and others to set up training camps, denied food to his people in order to win a propaganda war on sanctions, reniged on a cease fire agreement, reniged on inspections agreements, denied inspectors access to sites he had agreed to allow inspections, apparently bribed one weapons inspector, and constructed a model of a US warship to train divers in the destruction of US ships.
