I hope she does run, because she is a known evil and is guaranteed to lose, barring a total war humiliation and Depression.

When the Democrats win the presidency, they do so with a candidate who is new and not deeply familiar to much of the country. Thus they can lie and receive the benefit of the doubt when the lies don't fit with their past records. Usually the country is restless and looking for change, so the scrutiny is less, more of a 'let's give him a shot' attitude. FDR got in because of the Depression, Truman took over after death, then squeaked by to re-election. Kennedy squeaked in as a new wonderchild of promise. LBJ in 1964 doesn't quite fit the scenario, but taking over after Kennedy's murder was a factor, and only a year in office. Carter was an unknown, Clinton was an unkown.

Not so with Hillary, she has a long and controversial high-profile with most Americans. Most already have an opinion of her, and while there will always be the Koolaid-drinking moral relativist Dems who'd vote for Satan herself, its gonna be darn tough for Hillary to capture the swing votes. You can fool the middle forever, much of the middle can see through her lies, and even more will be able to by 2008. If conditions then are such that most are looking for a change, they'll likely toss her in the primaries. Even if this country continues to slide toward the left and losing the culture war, Hillary at best can only hope to be a socialist Goldwater.

I pray that she runs, so their legacy can be cemented in defeat. Jeb, Condi, JC, etc. can beat her. Its the Democrats like Roy Barnes that scare me.

You know, I never heard or thought of that one before and it seems so true.

Who was the last "known" Dem elected President? Kennedy? and before that? Truman? Of course that doesn't count Clinton's re-election.

Excellent analysis. Hitlery could never win unless the GOP ran Bozo the Clown against her. You are right, they must always sneak in an "unknown evil".
