Hehehe....cut through the juvenile crap and you'll see that Opie and Anthony are conservatives. Just this Monday they spoke for about half an hour on the evil of government legislation and government social programs.
No. they are not conservatives. They are moral-liberals. Anarchists rail about the "evil" of government, too, but we don't call them conservatives on that account.

Here are the moral-liberal statements which I noticed in this thread.
- Tropoljac (#2) "Funny? You bet..."
- BikerNYC (#13) "...and life would have gone on no worse for the wear."
- stanz (#15) "I guess they're not used to heterosexual sex there."
- andy_card (#77) "Any Creator who gets His jollies trying to persuade mortals to fear Him, gets no respect from me."
- stanz (#102) "I think whatever other people do that does not concern me is strictly their business."
- southern rock (#283) "I just think people are so worked up over the sex in the cathedral "gag", "
- Beenliedto (#326) "... and between consenting adults!! Nothing to worry about."
To: Cultural Jihad
They're lucky that they didn't try it in some of the more ethnic areas of NYC; the local menfolk would've kicked the snot out of the shock jock and loverboy.

At any rate, we can both listen to Jay tonight and see what he has to say about it. Then we can compare notes on his humor (unless you think that is too plebeian, Romulus.) Don't usually tune in to Leno but you whet my appetite. Although he was silent about this incident, I enjoyed the comparison between Bush and Clinton ... "Bush was at Mount Rushmore this week vs. Clinton in a rush to mount more". Bada bing!

Gee -- how about this for "entertainment?? Listeners could gain "points" for giving the two punks Opie and Anthony a beating -- Knee caps could be 25 "points"; a busted lip 10 "points", etc.
To: Romulus
Those people who took part in that stunt will get what the law allows as their punishment. Other than that, it does not concern me. Do I think it was a nice thing to do? No. Do I think it was humorous? Yes. You misunderstood stanz. What she found humorous was her post #15 (or whatever the number) not the despicable act.

With statements like these, we could assume warm beer, farting and MTV frat parties are "cultural entertainment" for this crew.

What are you, her mouthpiece? stanz can speak for herself. And in #102 she did so.
"It" is "the stunt".
But even assuming arguendo the "it" is the ill-considered wisecrack of #15, we must then take her word for it that "it" -- the wisecrack -- was not "a nice thing to do".
Which is it, StarFan? Or does it all depend on what the meaning of "it" is?

I did not name-call or fling insults as others have done to me. Your "joke" was insulting to faithful, practicing Catholics who saw it as an opportunistic, off-topic dig at the Catholic Church.
The connection you see between your "joke" and the crisis in the Catholic Church is tenuous at best. As far as we know, neither participant in the "dare" is a priest, has been abused by a priest, or is even Catholic. Askel5 asked you for a concrete connection. Desdemona stated rather clearly the lack of a connection:
Reading through comments here, I cannot believe any connection would be made between the church's internal problems and a pair of rutting animals who took up a radio station on a dare. One has absolutely nothing to do with the other.
And none of it is funny, either.

Your later comment about confessionals and whatnot reflects the success of the liberal media's incessant drumbeat against the Catholic Church. Yes, some of the most sensationalized and notorious cases had events take place in the confessional. By my estimate, Catholics are even more shocked, horrified and outraged by that than non-Catholics. However, the total number of priests from the past 40-50 years who have been accused of abuse is less than 1% of all priests. Contrary to the media's portrayal and your implication, the abuse is the exception rather than the norm. (Let me make clear, I am in no way defending the deviant perverts who have destroyed the lives and souls of others. They do not belong in the priesthood.)

Great post there, fighter!! I agree with you!!
To: Romulus
What are you, her mouthpiece? stanz can speak for herselfIndeed she can, and has throughout the thread ad nauseam
In post #276 My very first reply, which was meant to be humorous
Again in post #360 Just to remind you...I never said the act was funny...I thought my original little one-liner was funny. Please go back and read it. I think it was post #15.
And in post #365 I still think my one-liner was amusing and, a few others do as well, despite the views of all the inflamed Freepers
And lastly #371 What untruths? I meant my joke was funny .
Since she indicated she would be away until Monday and since you felt you found a flaw in her statement (which you highlighted in red) I thought I would correct you. Let's take her word for 'it' and direct our energy to a more worthwhile cause -- complaining to the FCC, the radio station and their sponsors and see if we can hold WNEW culpable.

Loretta Lynn Harper, 35, of Alexandria, Va., and her boyfriend, Brian Florence, 37, of Quantico, Va....Their parents must be so proud to have their children's names plastered all over the media in connection with this disgusting stunt. "Hey Mr. Harper, isn't that woman who got caught having sex in a church your daughter?"

Of course stanz thought her jape was funny. You probably think yours are too. But stanz also said the sex stunt was funny -- a stupid, hateful remark that she doesn't deserve to get away with.
If I'd embarassed myself half as much as stanz did today, I might be hiding out for a long weekend too -- especially if I lacked the guts to admit my screw-up and apologise .

Great posts, all!!!
I noted one vital thing in the rules for filing a complaint with the FCC that is necessqary to make our protests legal and valid. Go back and read the rules in Post #127. It says in order to be considered, the date and time of the offensive broadcast must be given. Would you PLEASE all go back and reread the fine print of the rules, and submit another letter the FCC following the rules to the letter? THEN I think we'll see some results, because if any program has ever begged for the full weight of government to come down on an offensive broadcaster, this station's actions have.
To: AmericanInTokyo
From the Federal Communications Commission Website on Complaint Mechanism: ******** "The date and time of the broadcast....Under the Communications Act of 1934, if the Commission assesses a monetary forfeiture against a broadcast station for violation of a rule, It must specify the date the violation occurred. Accordingly, it is important that complainants provide the date the material in question was broadcast. Moreover, under statutory and judicial case law, a broadcaster's right to air indecent speech is protected between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Consequently, the Commission must know the time of day that the material was broadcast. The call sign of the station involved....The Commission's obscenity/indecency enforcement program is directed at individual broadcast station licensees and not an individual radio announcer, the music industry or a specific music performer. Accordingly, the Commission staff must know the call sign of the station that aired the material. It is not enough, for example, to name the radio announcer who made the on-air statement. Documented complaints as discussed above should be directed to the Federal Communications Commission, Enforcement Bureau, Investigations & Hearing Division, 445 12th Street, S.W., Washington, D.C. 20554 Any documentation of the programming, of necessity, becomes part of the Commission's records and cannot be returned. To: Travis McGee
I just did a Google search and came up with www.opieandanthony.com as the website for these perverts. It says their show is on from 3 to 7 pm. (I think this nails them in the hours in which they can't do this). Also as I read it, this happened yesterday, August 15, correct? Gotta get that dat and times right when we file complaints.
