"Not if they weren't caught. If they left no evidence of their defilement, no one would have ever known. [Other posters are right, of course, and the fact that a radio is inlvoled changes things, but I'm talking about if they just did it alone.]

I think your squirming here!
Are you enjoying being the object of ridicule?
Are you beginning to understand that to enjoy respect from others... you not only have to give it, but you have to defened their right to it as well.
How does it feel to know your whole credibility is at stake on this forum? (And don't for a single second think it is not!)

It's no use having a discussion with you. You are using circular logic. "But what if the drunk driver was not arrested" etc.

AMF.

Thank you for making clear what kind of a person you are.

Threads like this are very revealing. I guess that's a blessing and a curse.

FWIW, "Fear" in the sense of "God-fearing" means possessing a reverential awe of the Almighty.

The word is the same. By fearing God, you put a cap on your own reason. You submit fully to Him, losing any intellectual individuality. As Clarence Darrow wrote, "The fear of God is not the beginning of wisdom. The fear of God is the death of wisdom." Believe in Him if you want, but stay your own person and think for yourself.

Time to FREEP FCC Chairman Michael K. Powell mpowell@fcc.gov.

Chairman Powell,

I ask that you investigate and prosecute WNEW-FM for their funding and broadcasting of a public sex act in St. Patrick's Cathedral during religious services. As part of the "Opie and Anthony" radio show, the station paid $7,000 for a couple to have sex during the a religious service only five feet from parishioners. I am outraged by this perversion of our nation's airwaves and their use to fund this sick activity during a solemn mass in a church. I ask you to personally see that the FCC does everything it can to punish this abuse, including rescinding this station's broadcast license.

From the Federal Communications Commission Website on Complaint Mechanism:

********

"The date and time of the broadcast....Under the Communications Act of 1934, if the Commission assesses a monetary forfeiture against a broadcast station for violation of a rule, it must specify the date the violation occurred. Accordingly, it is important that complainants provide the date the material in question was broadcast. Moreover, under statutory and judicial case law, a broadcaster's right to air indecent speech is protected between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Consequently, the Commission must know the time of day that the material was broadcast.

The call sign of the station involved....The Commission's obscenity/indecency enforcement program is directed at individual broadcast station licensees and not an individual radio announcer, the music industry or a specific music performer. Accordingly, the Commission staff must know the call sign of the station that aired the material. It is not enough, for example, to name the radio announcer who made the on-air statement.

Documented complaints as discussed above should be directed to the Federal Communications Commission, Enforcement Bureau, Investigations & Hearing Division, 445 12th Street, S.W., Washington, D.C. 20554 Any documentation of the programming, of necessity, becomes part of the Commission's records and cannot be returned.

Further reference: Commission's ) Case Law Interpreting 18 U.S.C. ) § 1464 ) and Enforcement Policies ) Regarding Broadcast Indecency

C'mon eagle conservatives. Time to get organized (like we did against Clinton on a daily basis when action was called for). Time to act like 'liberals' when they are offended by 'hate speech.' The libs take no-holds bar hardball when they are outraged, and they do it mercilessly, for keeps. We need to take a page from their book.

"...Get over it. I was raised as a Catholic for God's sake..."

A very odd phenomenon:

Almost 99% of the members of Free Republic were raised as a Catholicand feel compelled to confess the fact just after they crap on the Church.....

Now, try to imagine two people doing this that were not seen and caught.

What is the purpose of engaging in hypotheticals? Just admit it was disgusting for people to have sex in a cathedral with a shock jock narrating the whole thing. Anyone who doesn't think that's sick is sick, in my opinion.

Yet the very believers who are concerned about defilement would surely have the confidence that their deity would have dealt with anyone who might engage in such activity, whether or not they got caught.

Typical "libertarian" lack of respect for others' private property rights.
Yes, a church IS private property.
It would be a serendipitous stroke of justice if stangers wandered into your home from off the street and performed lewd acts in the middle of your living room in front of your wife and children.
Who gives a hoot about YOUR private property rights?
There "not hurting" anybody, right dude???

Decades of homo liberation has taken over too much of the American Catholic church hierarchy, to our shame and regret.

That does not mean we hold our masses and cathedrals in contempt as you seem to. A catholic mass is still not a fit target for a live radio fornication stunt.

Imagine these radio comedians dragging a pig carcass into an Islamic mosque during friday prayers for a "comedy stunt". They won't, because they would be resisted forcefully.

But the Catholic church is fair game for every low degrading insult.

I'll say it again: You are a Catholic basher. Why not stand up and admit it? Nobody cares that you were "raised" to be a Catholic. What we care about is your current attitude towards people's rights to worship in peace.

Can't Catholics criticize other Catholics?

Yes they can and do. They can also bash the Catholic church as you did when you said, "Just remeber what's going on in confessionals and behind closed doors in the Catholic church is not exactly pious and respectful."
