An American CW2 would look more like the Spanish Civil War of the 1930s, or the recent Balkan wars.

I agree. Let's say there is a democratic president. Alright, he or she is an outright marxist, the country literally goes to hell. So one of the military generals seize power in a coup in order to defend the "constitution".

The sides will be split between leftists aganist rightists, and since liberals do not possess many arms, and that the military is backing this general, so guess who will win the Civil War II? Yep, just like Franco was able to win in Spain.

But the improverished underclass broke out large-scale riots in all of the American cities, and there is nothing but chaos, literally.

So the "fascists" finally won the war, order is fully restored, and the constitution is respected once again.

For the time being, that is.

Many liberal voters ---their racial minorities definitely have a lot of arms.

I can't see a general taking power in a "7 Days in May" scenario. But we could get to your situation in a variety of ways.

And it will be ugly, the cities will burn, and we will not be likely to win our freedom back for generations if ever.

And during this period, our enemies will take the opportunity to march. China will conquer southeast asia etc.

What about those that do not cast themselves in those narrow terms? Where are they while this war is raging? I am a “rightest” however I am also pretty happy with this country. There are major problems yes but as any form of government ages it starts to show its warts. The fact is that governments that allow the vote of the citizens will eventually end up in socialism. It will limp along until the point that the money runs out. It will have nothing to do with politics or ideology it will be the point that the takers so outnumber the givers that the givers join the takers and then the cycle will start over. Each generation that takes power has a choice and it is their choice alone. They either take the baton that the preceding generation passes or they decide they want to try something different.
