A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 8/15/02
yahoo.com, whitehouse.gov

Posted on 08/15/2002 6:08:39 PM PDT by rintense

President Bush headed to South Dakota today to promote his economic and homeland security packages. In a speech in front of Mount Rushmore, South Dakota, Bush called for congress to act quickly on the proposed cabinet-level position of homeland defense. The President also stated that the current homeland package proposed from the Senate strips him of authority to exempt agencies from collective bargaining requirements if national security demands it. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Once again, Google.com is your friend. Sounds like he has been around for a while in Republican politics and administrations. He posts a "blog" (public diary) on his web site Lyn' s Page. A decent read.

Check out the Reagan quote on kayak's Freeper homepage.

Yes, smaller government is profoundly desired. But don't let that discourage you from supporting Bush. We now have a choice between big, but reasonably honest and sensible government led by a man of vision, integrity, heart and soul, and bigger dishonest tyranny, led if that is the word by liers, murderers, thieves, rapists, and communists. Neither half of that choice is smaller government, but it's a clear choice.

Help us get what we can, help us get what we must, and help us win back the Senate in November.

Well, duh. Now that I think about it, it's obvious. Most anyone who's been in the market has known since 2000 that they were hurting, and probably for a couple years before that they were at increased risk. They may not have all timed their exit as well as they wish (I got out completely in 1999 - brag brag), but it's not like they suddenly woke up sometime this year to a surprise that seemed to have been brought on by Bush or the Republicans.

I love the sight of those words.

Thanks, Dr. Deb, for another fine post.

Thanks for the great report. Another example of the value of FreeRepublic, and of the failure of our press to share these observations with the general public.

The choice is getting murkier ...and I'll bet I have been as high in the party as you and for longer...so I am a hopeful Republican sorely disappointed with the 1) stupidity 2) arrogance 3) lack of attention to the grassroots 4) lack of attention to the base 5) lack of adherence to a conservative philosophy ( conservatism is actually a kinder gentler philosophy !) 6) cronyism and 7) absolutely NO BALLS evidenced in this administration philosophically, wrt terrorism, wrt foreign policy, wrt economics and wrt our freedom, protection and future well-being. THIS ADMINISTRTATION had a sterling chance after 9-11... and blew it for personal wimpdom gain and are making it DIFFICULT if not IMPOSSIBLE for genuine Republiocan candidates to win this Fall. There!

I have discovered something about Google that is NOT good. Its leader is a top contributor to JOHN AMBULANCE CHASER PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE LIBERAL EDWARDS!

Shoot.

Just when I was getting to enjoy not ever clicking on Yahoo - which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Demonazi party.

Isn't that interesting? Grassroots has been the emphasis of Marc Racicot, and there is a huge effort afoot. Perhaps you aren't paying attention, or perhaps the grassroots effort doesn't match your preferred tactics.

In addition, the war on terror is being prosecuted well, the economic stuff is NOT (with the exception of tax cuts and prosecution of criminal CEO'S) being hampered by the President but rather by the democrats in the Senate, and in my opinion, you are way off base.

But thanks for sharing. Have a nice day!

South Dakota Sen.'s Daschle and Johnson were there and when they were introduced they only got a smattering of polite applause except for one woman who was just spazzing out hooting and hollering for them. This is the best part though, I think they may have invited themselves, because there were no seats on the bleachers for them. They were just standing on the outside of the crowd.

LOL Thanks for the report.

Dear Miss Marple,

Methinks your looking glass has a few rosy spots on it.

Miss Marple just like Miss Maple Marple is a girl wonder, being endowed with divine knowledge, superior intellect and lightning fast inductive and deductive reasoning.

I'm sorry....I forgot to some people "grassroots" means pandering to illegal Mexicans and other preferred groups.

I want to thank you for this great thread Rintense. I was just out looking for some decent photos from yesterday and I remembered that you post pics every night with W in them. As a SoDak, I'm proud of Rushmore, and to get some pictures with Pres. Bush giving a speech there is just too cool.

that first picture posted here gave me goosebumps! it was as if George Washington was listening very attentavely to Our President Bush and saying "Atta Boy! George!".

I have never noticed the soft, kind, wise "overseeing" look that was given to our first president's eyes in Mt. Rushmore, till I saw this, with Washington as if he were looking down on all the presidents to follow him, and standing in one spirit with Bush. I get the feeling, from having studied Wasington's life a bit, that he would approve of Bush's stewardship.

I think we need another mountain into which someone etches a few more presidential faces for posterity. Of course, only the giants would be there, which means it would be a carter and clinton-free zone. If nothing else, then a wall of conservative faces should be in one place!
