Ummm...
Waitasec...
They were trapped for 27 hours. Hardly enough time to starve. And yet...this may well be the most ridiculous sentence ever uttered. Another way of saying it would be, "We were scared we were going to starve or die of thirst, because all we had was...food and water." :)
