``We have been the subject of very harsh criticism since 9-11,'' said Virginia Kice, spokeswoman for the INS Western region. ``All our employees understand we cannot afford to make any mistakes now, and everybody is very, very vigilant. The stakes in this climate are very high.''
For the first half of this year, the INS has denied 7,422 individuals admission into the country by air. That compares with 9,130 people denied entry over the same period in 2000. But as a percentage of all travelers who are entering, or returning to, the U.S. from another country, the percentage of denied admissions has remained at .02 percent.
This born and bred American wants to know how many Saudis have received this treatment, Ms. Kice, and how many have quietly entered the USA since their countrymen massacred 3000 of our countrymen, and destroyed the World Trade Center.
I guess I'll get flamed for saying this, but I hold President Bush personally responsible for this BS. I wish I believed he had a clue about who our enemies are and who our enemies are not. (I'll give him a clue: 51 year-old women from New Zeeland are not the problem, and everytime we spend time paying attention to them, some dirt-eating bastard with a towel on his head walks by to assist in our destruction.)

Do you ever wonder if the whole world has gone insane?
Modern thinking on the subject is that federal employees are doing too vital a job for us to risk distracting them with worries about being held accountable. Rather, we should be supportive and grateful regardless of how well or badly they perform.
Consider yourself combusted. ;-)
If you do get flamed, it will be a sad commentary on the "modern" FreeRepublic. If this had happened three years ago, FR would have been apoplectic over clinton's abuse of power.
But some think it's OK since "our guy" is doing it.
Tyranny is wrong no matter whether (R) or (D).
In the recent aftermath of 9/11, I took solace in the fact that Bush was in the White House. "At least sensible heads will prevail; what an opportunity to 'fix' some things that are wrong with the government" were my thoughts.
Whoa, was I naive. Crack down on immigration and those who overstay their visas? No....instead crack down on law-abiding Americans, subject them to humiliating searches at the hands of people who couldn't even get hired at Kinkos, for God's sake.
Before I start getting flamed, I thank God that there have not been any additional successful terrorist attacks. That tells me that our Intelligence services are a lot better than they were.
But I can't see any connection between searching those who are obviously not a threat and making our skies safer to fly.
Oh Really, MZ. Kice? Tell it to the police in Georgia recently...they pulled over a vehicle with 6 ILLEGAL immigrants from Mexico in it...they were told by INS to LET THEM GO....they didn't have "any room" for them?!?!
Well, MZ. Kice...care to TRY to answer THAT?!?!
Apparently, all ILLEGALS are equal...but some are more "equal" than others...right "Napoleon" Kice?
