Boy!
That makes me homesick!
I used to set trot lines across the Rio Grande at the base of the Chisos Mountain when there was nothing there but a sand bar where I could pitch a tent.

We hiked in the Chisos and along the canyons. One time we came across large paws in the sand (Puma?)....we made a hasty retreat out of that canyon.

We only lived in Texas for three years but often talk about the wonderful memories...seeing the Alamo; Big Bend; the Gulf beaches; Austin & San Antonio; going to the Rodeo in the Astrodome; learning to sail on Galvestin Bay and square dancing!

We considered moving to Austin, Texas when we retired but with most of our family on the east coast; we chose Florida. I love Texas...especially the warm friendly people! Texas is a GIANT place with a BIG HEART!
