US may seize Arab airports by force to attack Iraq: report

Mon Aug 12 2002 14:19:02 ET

BEIRUT, Aug. 12 (Xinhua)--Lebanon received a report from diplomatic sources saying that the United States would seize by force several airports in Arab states when it launches a war against Iraq, the An Nahar newspaper reported on Monday.

The report said that US President George W. Bush would unleash the military offensive in January 2003 as he has to wait the outcome of the midterm elections of the Congress in November. ``Bush prefers to have Arab support for his war to remove Iraqi president Saddam Hussein and the US forces would have facilities in several neighboring Arab airports,'' the report said.

''At any rate,'' it stressed, ``once zero hour comes, Bush will give the orders to use Arab airports by force for the military operation against Iraq if the need arises.'' Bush argued that without the US interference, the Arab countries, the Arab League and the UN Security Council would not have been able to oust the invading Iraqi troops from Kuwait in the 1991 Gulf War.

Meanwhile, the report revealed that the Bush administration has allowed Israel to strike back in the upcoming confrontation against Iraq if the Arab country fires Scud missiles at Israel like it did in 1991.

The report suggested that the Arab world should take the US war preparations against Iraq ``very seriously'' and recommended a diplomatic offensive by Lebanon to consolidate Pan-Arab camp.

Like it or not, we ARE at war, war with radical Islam. Diplomacy is useful, to a degree, but we must be prepared to risk offending anyone who impedes us in our goal. What is our goal? To end the threat radical Islam poses to us.

The only way we are going to be able to end the threat is to TERRORIZE them back, and terrorize them to such an extent that they will never risk attacking us again. That's what we had to do to Germany and Japan. The American people understood such things back then. Now we think we can make nice with evil, and listen to the appeasers.

Actually, the Moslems may, through their own hatred, make it easier for us. A serious, survival-threatening attack on Israel would produce a nuclear retaliation from Israel, and the Arab/Islamic world would then be sufficiently terrorized.

The present age is far too interesting for my taste.

At the same time, we shouldn't hesitate to bomb any terrorists or terrorist-supporting-regimes back to the stone age.

I concur! Of course once we've plowed Iraq, Iran, "Palestine," and Saudi Arabia, et al, under, I'm guessing any remaining Muslims might still not think of us as pals.

However, since they seem to respect and understand violence, maybe they'll finally stop seeing the U.S. as a Clintonized paper tiger.

What's the use of being the greatest nation on Earth if you can't instill a little fear in the hearts of those who would see your children victims of their Satanic cult?

We've wooed the Muslims for decades. We liberated Kuwait. We saved Saudi Arabia. We cast our lot with the Kosovars. They hate us more than ever.

Yes killing Serbs which temporarily alienated the Orthodox East (maily Russia) only made the Islamics hate us more as it showed we had no principles. Of course the Clinton administration had no principles.

Once the Arab world understands we have principles and will pursure them will terrible vegence they will respect/fear us. That's my recipe for peace.

I think when the nations that have feared their extremists more than they fear the soft old United States, see a complete decapitation of Iraq's present power structure and the Eagle looks at them with blood dripping from it's talons and asks "do you get the message?" they will be far less likely to play cute with us from that point on.

If the Islamic world remains fairly intact, however cowed, then I expect them to make nicey-nice while casting about for allies. China comes to mind.

I have no hopes for the prospects of a long-term peace between Islam and the Judaeo-Christian West. Unless the Koran is excised like "Mein Kampf" from Germany, they will plot, and they will be back.

PS: You cannot just rule a "religious" text illegal to posess..

That only gives it strength... You have to refute it.

Excised from what is now the Islamic world. Ever seen the old footage of the Swastika being blasted off the Reichstag?

Or more recently, the toppling of Lenin statues in the former Soviet Union?

Unless the idols of a billion Muslims fall, Islam will remain a threat.

Oh they can keep their religion...they just have to take it less seriously, kind of like Europe and to a smaller degree America has done.

Yes, I had in mind the unconditional surrender of the Koran's adherents in the jihad they declared on us.

Nothing less would a refutation to them.

But I still have Hitlers Book.. and he was a worthless tyrant.

How much more accessible would it be if he was considered a god?

(You can't squelch this.. all you can do is answer it, IMVHO)

If you make this a "forbidden text" then you are helping promote "Allah" and his hate..

What better endorcement could you ask for than an outright ban?

Foolish..

You're failing to understand... it's irrelevant that you can possess "Mein Kampf" or the Koran. You don't live in a part of the world where the ideas in those books proved to be dangerous to the rest of the world.

That is why "Mein Kampf" was banned in Germany... to prevent the problem from recurring.

Yet the Koran is even more pernicious. As long as it holds sway in what is now the Muslim world, it will remain a threat.

What's your argument? That there will be no Muslims left after we knock Saddam off his rocker?

Hiding the Koran won't help.. Look at the Christian Bible for examples.

Just refute it.. as the evil, hateful, opposite of Christiantiy that it is..

And let the stones fall whever they may.

But, if you make it secret, then you will create a demand.
