I think when the nations that have feared their extremists more than they fear the soft old United States, see a complete decapitation of Iraq's present power structure and the Eagle looks at them with blood dripping from it's talons and asks "do you get the message?" they will be far less likely to play cute with us from that point on.

If the Islamic world remains fairly intact, however cowed, then I expect them to make nicey-nice while casting about for allies. China comes to mind.

I have no hopes for the prospects of a long-term peace between Islam and the Judaeo-Christian West. Unless the Koran is excised like "Mein Kampf" from Germany, they will plot, and they will be back.

They do have long memories....heck they are still sore about being driven out from Andulasia.....aka Spain.

PS: You cannot just rule a "religious" text illegal to posess..
