Ronald Reagan's condition is worsening and his friends have told the New York Daily News that he "is steadily slipping in his terminal battle with Alzheimer's disease."
"He's bedridden and helpless," his son, famed radio talk show host Michael told NewsMax.com recently. According to the News, the 91-year-old beloved former president's mental deterioration has increased over the past months. "He no longer knows who Nancy is," one source, referring to Reagan's wife of 50 years, told the News. "Some days he seems to recognize her as someone who's familiar, but most of the time she's just a blank to him." "He's becoming more difficult to deal with," a source close to the family confided to the News. "Both his physical and his mental problems have gotten worse."
The News said that a former Reagan aide confirmed the sad news which was revealed even as an old Reagan friend, Charlton Heston was revealing that he too suffers from the early symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.
"Our family knows all too well the cruelty of this disease, and we pray that God will give the Heston family, especially [Heston's wife] Lydia, . . . the strength to face each day that lies ahead," Nancy Reagan said in a statement released to the media.
The dollar coin continues to meet with resistance due to continued printing of the paper dollar. Discontinue the paper, the coin will be used.
The Susan B. dollar was an absolute disaster and deserves to be eradicated from our nation's collective memory. But despite the PC overtones, I kinda like the Sacagawea dollar: it's tastefully attractive and convenient to use. (Susan B. was an ugly hag.)
Eliminate the paper dollar and the penney.
Keep Sacagawea and put Ronnie on a new $5 coin.
(He's certainly worth more than a buck.)
The Democrats did not waste anytime putting their icon FDR on the dime. The Reagan dollar should be put up for a vote in Congress as soon as Ronald Reagan dies. Why wait until he dies? They didn't for the carrier.
Go for a gold dollar coin. If they can't push it through, "compromise" with a $5 coin. And watch how embarrased the libs get when the $5s get circulated more than the $1s.
Another possibility is the 50c piece. Do they even make the Kennedy ones anymore?

LOL. I am laughing because that is exactly how the liberals would react to it. You all might have a point. He could make it a success.
When he dies, I hope the country gives him an elegant, tasteful service reflecting the dignity and greatness of the man. And I hope they find some way to NOT invite x42 or his hag...er...wife. Or at least, give them lousy seats. Having either Clinton present is like inviting OJ Simpson to a symposium on violence against women.
In different elections, I assume.
I lived in Sacramento when he was Governer of the state. One day, while riding my bike to the University near his home, he came out of his house and waved and smiled at me. I will never forget that smile. It was the most honest genuine smile I have ever seen. When I graduated he was still Governer and his signature is on my diploma. I am sure it was signed by a machine, but it is still neat to have.
No Clinton will ever be anything other than a visitor in the Oval Office. Hitlery is way to unpopular to be elected, and Chelsea? Gimme a break.
The liberals liked the idea of an ethnic single mom on our coins. Sacagawea has failed just like Susan B.
Just like Reagan, the Reagan Dollar Coin will succeed where the liberal ideas had failed.
I like the way you think.
Ronald Reagan is perhaps one of the 10 top men in the last 100 years. Frankly I consider him in the top 3 but that is me. The life he lived is just an incredible story. When we think of life and living well and above what our calling was, I think Reagan, now 91 years old.
Darn, my mom died at age 44 and my dad in law died at age 66!
How blessed his family is to have him still here and how blessed we as a country are to have had him as our leader.
