I thought I read somewhere that autism is caused by an overdevelopment in the brain in utero

Really? That is interesting. What is Asperger Syndrome? I have never heard of that.

My grandson has CP, not too badly, he's a diapalegic, but on a scale of one to ten he is a five on the autism. It was easy to pick him out on the chart. The Doctor said it was sensory perception deprivation which I also never heard of. But that is what he was treated for. Strange treatments, but he seems better. He is also very smart and has a personality, plus.

My son's therapist gave me a pretty dry textbook on autism. I think that's where I read about overdevelopment of the brain. Just a theory.

Asperger Syndrome is fairly new and is a high functioning form of autism. The kids are generally smart, but socially clueless and just kinda odd. My son also has problems with anxiety and obsessive thinking and that's what we've mainly focused on.

It's difficult to see your kid struggle socially in elementary school. It's only going to get harder for him unless we can help him to become more "normal". Some people will brush this off as being unimportant...not everyone is popular, get over it! But my son is a big target. Couple that with his anxiousness and we have a recipe for teenaged disaster. It worries me a lot.
