Wish I was up in Alaska, away from this 95 degree weather we're dealing with. Could you send some of that drizzle down this way, pretty pleeeeease? Everything is crispy here and the soybeans are looking really sad and droopy. :-(

Got to head out for a bit. It's taking a long time to catch up today. LOTS of good stuff but everyday's like that here. I may not respond to everybody here but I'd like you to know I love reading all your posts. I learn a lot and I laugh a lot, and sometimes even shed a tear or two.

Man, lucky you. President Bush has stopped at Elmendorf AFB a couple times for refueling, but he stays on the base.

Thanks KA, I STILL don't know WHERE he is going to be speaking, I talked to Lois, the Boss on the phone (she's a STAUNCH PUBBIE) and she's hoping we (meaning the Hotel) get an invite to it!! Keeping fingers crossed here....

Hi Greg! Good to see you and glad to hear that the manual for the "Blue Bomber" will be available soon. I've had some opportunities recently to practice shooting at snakes and skwerls that were coming into the Canteen. My aim is a little better, but I still need much practice!! MistyCA has used the "Blue Bomber" too, but I think she messed it up by trying to use "Mashed" Potatoes as ammo. Sheesh! hehehehe

Joe, Thank you, that is the nicest compliment. You are right, kneezles is my sweetheart. :) And yes, he LOVES to make me blush. He is a bad boy, but I love him. Hiya Jen darlin, good to see ya! Isn't Mail Call Monday just the BEST? It's so good seeing the letters out there that tell us that the Canteen is doing its job brightening the day of someone out there. So all of you out there lurking, come on in and join in on the fun!!!

Who was it that posted that only us rednecks knew exactly how much was in a "mess?" Well, I have a "mess" of corn. Actually, it is more than a mess, is closer to a S$!tload of corn. Kathy, my stock is soon to replenished!

I will be hopping in and out. Lord, save me from the canning tomatoes!

I like it when I come home from fishin with a "mess" of fish!!! Yummy, all that fresh food you're gonna have this winter while me and Sassy support Green Giant!

Oh, messes of fish are so great! I remember, way back when I would go snagging for spoonies. One year we had so much luck I couldn't leave, even though I was out of sinkers. So, I removed every other lug nut from the wheels of the old truck, just to stay a little longer. The fish tasted so wonderful cooked on the old wood stove!

And those "messes" of mushrooms in the spring. I think I know what Heaven will be like...

I'm so jealous that you have corn to put up. I used to help my mom freeze corn. It was a HUGE job, but it was sooooooo worth it in Dec., Jan, and Feb.
