It is like a cottage down a road, a place where a weary veteran can spend the night.
Freepers who post here, feel it too. It has been so dear how the Freepers kept making it a cottage - a home-type of place that had a huge living room for them to visit in and a dance floor, a library, etc.
saying that the Canteen is like home to them for the first time since they served.
a respite from our busy and sometimes troubling world. Make yourself at home.

I had a lump in my throat to see the work they did to get
together for us, to support us like that!
God bless the Canteen and all of you for doing your part
back home. It is felt and appreciated.

I love my country because in all the places I
have traveled it is not just my homeland, but
a symbol of freedom to me and to the entire
world. And to keep America free it comes at
a cost as it always has. For some higher then
others but always at a cost. And you better
believe it is worth any cost to keep it FREE!
You all know that at the USO Canteen Freeper
Style and it shows every time I get to visit.
I want to thank you for your faithful patriotism
to our land that will stay free .
Thank you LindaSOG and the Canteen.

our Canadian friends, serving with us in this war. You have the
gift of graciousness and giving that makes meeting you a gift
to all of us.
MistyCA bet you didnt know I knew you were gone. LOL
Sure did and counted the days along with everyone else . But
I hope you took a better vehicle then the one with the Beverly
Hillbillies. LOL I am a big fan of your 666 situations you get
yourself into. HUG
SpookBrat you have me laughing with your humor and
how you say the things going on with you. Youre a doll
SpookBrat.
SassyMom and your Bad Boy. I think of the two of you as
the Canteen sweethearts. Hey SassyMom, I think your guy
Kneezles must laugh to himself when he gets you to blush.
The two of you show me there is hope for me finding the
right girl for me someday.
Kathy in Alaska what a girl you are. I saw you tell everyone
how you had watched the Canteen like we do here. I sure
am glad you joined in and I can tell everyone else is too.
Youre a living doll and your enthusiasm is contagious.
Radu, your name is intriguing to me. You are sweet and I

MoJo2001 thank you for the music and your support of us.
Thank your husband for serving and tell him he is a lucky

Hi Jinx I found the Canteen the day you were the Freeper Friday
Veteran. I salute you my brother.
Johnny Gage my cousin is a firefighter in New York. So I
noticed your trucks right away. Thanks!
LindaSOG the remarkable history lessons each time I am there.
I think I would like to ask for tutoring if it is ok with you.
Something we could do over a nice dinner and a bottle of
wine. You could tell me all the history you want and I would
love every minute of it.
I apologize to those I did not mention. That concerned me
when I wanted to write this email to Snow Bunny. God sent
you all and the Canteen into my life. Enlisting after Sept.11th,
was one of those things I had to do or how could I enjoy my
freedom that others were going to fight for.
Thanks again everybody !

Lurkers may stay lurkers for a long time but we love FR
no matter if we post or not. So I wanted you to know that
all your work and that of the Canteeners to take a running
thread and turn it into a place as you have is remarkable.
Kathy in Alaska your stepping forward like you did has
brought yet an added light to the shining lights of others
at the Canteen and FR.
Bless you all for what you mean in my life. The Canteen is
a place of comfort and support to an old veteran like me.

Long story, we were asked to scrounge a bit and then
got in a little misunderstanding about who asked us and
why. LOL It goes with the calling, Sam you know what
that means. That higher calling of being a scrounger and
a Bad Boy. Magoo, Tomkow and Kneezles you saved the
day !
Hey Starman sir, are we taking a test too? Here are our

Yesterday was my 4th time at your Canteen.
You did the theme about the Purple Heart and
the story behind it. Thank you, my Dad loved
it when I sent it to him. He is going to register
at FR now because of the Canteen. He will get
into FR big time as he loves politics.
Dad is a Korean War Veteran and will love the
Canteen too.
The Canteen and the Poetry Branch are where I
like to spend my online time when I get it. Dad
sent me a journal to jot down things I write so I
can one day send you something for the Poetry
area for submission to Coteblanche.
The thing you call Infinite Freep Rallys for the
Troops is awesome to me. Your work in Colorado,
Fresno and all the other places like Bluesagewomans
report I read at the Canteen. KNOW this , it is
with great pride that I thank all of you.
Thank you for having the Canteen to come to . Thank
you for FR for my Dad and for me one day.

Mr_Magoo my Dad loves what I send him about the planes, he is a WW11 vet .
Thanks for the kind words. I enjoy posting about the different planes each day. I am in awe of the Pilots who flew those early planes. They were a special breed of MEN. My Dad was a WWII Vet too. He was an Instructor in the Army Air Corp., teaching gunnery and bombing on B-24's and B-29's.
Joe, I thank you for your Service, and I dedicate today's Air Power to your Dad, and all the rest of the WWII Vets still with us.
The PT-1, produced by the Air Service in 1925, established the basic design for primary trainers into the World War II period. It was also the first airplane purchased in substantial quantity following World War I, with 221 being delivered from production. It was used extensively during the late 1920s and early 1930s for training avaition cadets in California and Texas.
Developed from the Dayton-Wright TW-3 airplane, the PT-1 featured an innovation for trainers, a welded fuselage framework of chrome-molybdenum steel tubing for providing greater structural strength. The airplane was so sturdy and dependable that it was nicknamed the "Trusty". However, it was so easy to fly that it bred overconfidence in some who were soon to be flying faster airplanes having more difficult handling characteristics.

It had excellent spin-recovery characteristics. The PT-3 was essentially the same airplane, with a different engine and other minor differences. The PT-1 was selected as the winner of a competition in 1924 held at Brooks Field, Tex. In its first year of service at Brooks, 531 students were trained without a serious injury, significantly better than the JN-4 that it replaced. Four PT-1s were built for Siam. The Navy's NY-1/NY-2 trainer was developed from the PT-1. The O-17 Courier was a development of the PT-3. The Trusty was one of the first aircraft used by the Air National Guard. Only a few PT-1s survive today, and one is on display at the US Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.

Hard to believe Labor Day is so close, and summer is practically over....
Snow Bunny,
We, Missouri FReepers, were pleasantly suprised to have our Missouri FReeps mentioned by our troops!
Kyle, Bobby, all of our Service Men & Women, Thank You for your kind remarks. We appreciate your service from the bottom of our hearts and depth of our souls.
During one Wed. FReep, DogRobber and I were confronted by a Viet Nam Veteran who was angry with our display. He stated that we weren't there for him when he fought and came back, so the hell with us. He was correct, America was not there for him. He then went over to give the peaceniks a piece of his mind.
We vowed then and there that as long as we have life in our bodies, our troops would not be treated in the manner of the 60's and 70's. We, having the freedom you are fighting for, should never again let the peacenik types steal the high road, and bastardize their pathetic peace at any cost propaganda. We could have peace tomorrow if we were willing to roll over!
You, our wonderful fighting men and women (past and present) insure that we never have to roll over. Our President said in a speech not long ago that we will not tire, we will not falter, we will not fail. We, at the Canteen know to whom he was referring. YOU! Without you and your strength, how could he keep that pledge?
We in Missouri believe it is an honor to hold a sign declaring our country to be the greatest and our troops to be true heros. May our cry and shout always be
They will be living here from now on, (Lord willing). We're waiting for their mother to take care of business in NC and move here as well. But until then, it's all me.
Hey KA and cb, you guys work QUICK, 55 degrees in Rapid right now, won't even get out of the 60's today, YAAAAAYYYY!!!!!!!Thank you!:)
Well, less than 4 days till the Commander in Chief comes to Rapid, I CAN'T wait!
I hope everyone is having a WONDERFUL day.
God Bless this USO Canteen, protect it, and bless and guide all who enter here.
Have I mentioned that I LOVE MAIL CALL MONDAYS!!!!!! Thanks to all of our troops and veterans. You all are heros and I thank you for all that you are doing to make sure that America is safe and FREE!!!!!
Have a great day off Flagman! You deserve it.
This weather is FANTASTIC, finally got to turn OFF my A/C, first time in over 2 months!!! Windows are OPEN!!
Oh man, I am sooooooooooo jealous! We won't be able to do that until Thanksgiving. hahahahaha
