It was a great day on the North East and South West corners of Mulberry and College in Ft. Collins. Freepers in attendance this week were:
RMRattlesnake and family
Trteamer
Bikertrash and his son
fivetoes
There were several members of the VFW Post 1781, Joe, Jim, Harry and several others.
Two members of the Fife and Drum Corps along with their newest, youngest drummer
One candidate for Larimer County Treasurer
The antis numbers seemed to be larger than in weeks past. Many arrived in travel trailers pulled by large pickup trucks. Somehow their 'no more war for oil' sign didn't make sense. This fact was not over looked in my verbal diatribe as I reminded them that in order to avoid the appearance of hypocrisy they really ought to walk or ride a bicycle to the protest instead of showing up in gasoline and oil dependent vehicles.
Trteamer was joined by RMRattlesnake on the Southwest corner this week. Since this has been a VFW counter protest since last year we do not want to step on their toes. It seems that Freepers especially with TRT backgrounds tend to be a little more, shall I say 'in your face' when it comes to events like these. I think that the VFW folks just want to be there to show that there others that there is another view than that expressed on the North West corner.
There was of course, the usual horn honking support of passers by. It is always welcome to hear hoots and hoorays and seeing the waving as people pass.
There was one incident that had our side up in arms and on the verge of invasion, at least they had me ready to rock and roll. Joining them for the past two weeks is a young, imature male that likes to dance like an idiot. This is the same guy that irked Softengine last week. This punk started working on a new sign and he laid the American flag on the ground next to him. Someone in our group pointed it out and I nearly lost it on the bullhorn. I yelled at the scumbag to get that flag off the ground ! He just wobbled his head around like one of those little mindless doggies in the rear window and smiled which infuriated me further. I don't think I crossed the line of lowering my vocabulary to anything that would have embarrassed our side, but I did continue to berate the idiot for another minute or so until an elderly woman realized the situation and halted my verbal abuse by picking up the flag. Later on the punk returned the favor by waving his extended middle finger at me.
They had a sign that stated 'RESTORE DEMOCRACY'. I answered this by informing them that last week one of our gals went over to their side and gave each of them a pocket Constitution and that it was obvious that they had not read it because the word democracy does not appear in any of our founding documents. I also suggested that perhaps they should go on a pilgrimage to Iraq and hold that sign up over there as it would have the same meaning. Sadam might allow it. If we had a true democracy in this country one of our view points would not be allowed to be expressed at the intersection because the majority, the mob would rule. Thank God for our Constitutional Republic!
It is difficult in the short span of an hour to be a participant and objectively report all of the facts. I realize that we all have our own eyes and ears and see very different points of interest and focus our attention on different areas as we all view the same situtaion. Please add your comments as to what you observed.
Bikertrash and the new Rally Cry sign.
Today's Fife and Drum Corps members.
Some more supporters of liberty.
The relentless crew from the VFW Post 1781.
The al qaeda fan club. The guy waving the flag has not got a clue. The man on the far right concerns me the most. He is at every rally and I think he is probably the organizer.
Anyway, I had a good time as did the rest of the folks on the 'sunny sides of the street'.

As always, you guys do such a wonderful job. That flag on the ground routine is the same as our peaceniks have done on occasion. They act like it was an accident, but we don't believe it, especially when they step on it. Grrrr.
Be careful out there!

Please add your comments as to what you observed.I observed a miserable bucket of raw sewage laying the flag on the ground as our wonderful veterans looked on.
And these filthy maggots pretend to respect life.

How visible is your corner? And also, can you get an article in the Fort Collins paper sensitive your beliefs?
I bet that the majority of folks in Fort Collins believe the way you do - I've been there and know it for its excellent equine medicine studies. It strikes me as a conservative campus.
I think the "opposition" are likely renegades from the liberal campus contingent. Is there a Young Republican group on campus you can ally with?
Congrats to you and your fellow freepers for having the guts and taking the time to get out there and support America. Thank you so much.

JPJ1,
I see that you are relatively a new member here on FR. I sincerely hope that you are not making a profit off of patriotism and the hard work of Freepers defending our country.

I can't believe those leftists and the "peace" lies on their signs.
I thought a saw a picture of someone at one of these demonstrations with an outstanding counter-sign:
Peace through surrender?
No!
Victory for America!

I apologize wholeheartedly for taking it so lightly. After reading your post, I see that this is a very subversive group, not just a bunch of wannabe long hairs wishing for the '60's.
You have my prayers and my support. It irritates me no end that they are alive and well in Fort Collins.

TYRANT FREE ZONE: S.W. CORNER FREEP REPORT.
What a FReep!!!! The hour went by so fast I was sorry for it to end.
A BIG THANK YOU is in order to RMrattlesnake and son who came over to do sign and protest duty on the S.W. corner.
Yes, we had a great time facing off directly across from the subversive agitators. Way to go fivetoes for verbally blasting the "lay the flag on the sidewalk in front of the Vet's" idiot. My jaw dropped open when I saw this guy deliberately do this. It was no accident and he kept smiling at us and fivetoes.
RM rattlesnake was in their faces verbally and was really getting to them. Good Job!. He brought a United Nations flag along, drug it on the ground over to visit, and we took turns wiping our boots on it. This REALLY pissed em off. "This is what we think of your one world government!" as he stomped on their blue flag. When he pretended to wipe his rear with it I heard the people behind us a Good Time Burgers all crack up laughing.
Your right fivetoes, our TRT background does not make us shy when it comes to getting in the face of misguided fools and subversives.
I am sure in the coming weeks as more CSU students arrive in town that both sides will pick up in numbers. The job of the S.W. corner crew is to embarrass and frustrate the new recruits of the pacifists. No laws will be broken by our side, guaranteed. I intend to excersize my rights fully and loudly and peacefully.
I brought along a couple of new signs.
The favorite, by popular honking of pickup trucks and SUV's, was "BOMB SADDAM" in neon pink. The communist old guy in blue was visibly upset the first time he saw that sign. He faced off across the street and just stared with an evil look on his face. On the back of that sign it said "LET'S ROLL".
Another new sign says "HEY PEACE-NIK'S, THE 60'S ARE OVER" and on the back "HISTORY TEACHER NEED, N.W. CORNER". Another says "HITLER, STALIN, POL POT LOVED PACIFISTS".
My 5 foot high, blaze orange sign, "GIVE OUR TROOPS A HONK" sign was really fun to hold towards oncoming traffic. There really IS a tremendous amount of support for our troops from the public.
The VFW and FReeper crew on the N.E. corner looked and sounded impressive for our vantage point. I hope your hearing has recovered from the air horn assault by that northbound blue 18 wheeler. It hurt my ears from across the street!

To: softengine
