The tobacco companies should sue the states for fraud! They claimed it was to reimburse them for the money their product cost them in health care for smoking related illness. Not to balance state budgets.

Theeyy tried this sort of thing before andd it ddidn't work, it was called prohiibition. No one is immortal, they need to deal with it! With all the threats in the world today, they choose to persue this tax and ostricise smoker's and let things that will destroy us slip through. Go figure

Why not a class action lawsuit brought against the gov for abusive taxation? They are repeatedly singling out a specific group of people to pay for everything BUT that healthcare they claim we owe the system. It could be advertized everywhere cigarettes are sold...can you imagine the number of signatures?

The only thing that stinks is, when the Tobacco Companys signed that assinine agreement with the Attorney Generals, the AG's avoided signing exactly how it should be spent, but did a "Gentleman's Agreement" on what they SAID they would use the money for.

Well, we all see now where that money is going, and it SURE isn't going for health care and education. It's going for more bans, higher taxes and more control of the smokers.

What really gripes me is : the smokers are paying into the Tobacco Settlement Money 100%. See the following cartoon
