>> Hold it there a moment, Bud. When a person chooses to not follow Republican "doctrine" lockstep, but sees the Republican platform as more closely fitting their beliefs, that does NOT make them a liberal. <<

Well, you have a point there. Of course I was refering to folks who also despise the Republican PLATFORM. There are a bunch of freepers who have made it clear they despise EVERYTHING the Republican party platform stands for, and they despise many of it's stauchly conservative candidates, from Bob Barr to Jesse Helms to Phil Crane.

>> There are actions that are taken by the national Republican leadership - none excluded, that does not sit well with all party members. <<

Well, that's obvious. I'm a party member and SOME of their decisions don't sit well with me.

>> Open, constructive criticism certainly helps keep our party focused upon the more immediate issues << <<

I agree. Notice the phrase "open, constructive critism". Now, can you tell me which the following statements would fit that catergory:

1) "Bush's decision to support amnesty for illegal aliens is an extremely stupid plan that will alienate his base and turns his back on the party's decades-old committment to soveignity of our borders. I suggest we all call the white house and tell Bush not to abandon his base "

2) "Bush is a retard cokehead with an NWO fascist globalist who is a tool for BIG OIL and Ashcroft and Cheney are running the White House for the corporations that HATE America! I wouldn't trust DUMBYA to shine my shoes!!! Any SMART Republican, which is MOST of you guys, realizes that even GORE is more conservative than Shurb! Since the GOP is run by BUSHIES, I WILL VOTE GORE IN 2004!!! YOU SHOULD TOO!!!"

I have no problem with the first post. The second post (which occurs on FR all too often) seems to be by individuals that are either truly deranged "conservatives" or liberal disruptors.

>> look at the prominient R. leaders endorsing [Dole] while disregarding the other, more honest Republican candidates. She BLATANTLY LIES of her involvement with N.C., won't debate nor associate with the other respectable N.C. candidates of the party and we're asked to vote for HER? I won't. <<

If you REALLY support the Republican platform, then you'd be working your butt off to counter that and campaign for a REAL Republican who will impliment that platform. I make no bones about my support for JIM PARKER. Of course, a "conservative" like yourself seems to PERFER that a liberal would win. Hmmm...

Shame on a party that condemned < cough > Clinton for lying of her N.Y. status and expects North Carolinians to endorse the same. <<

Were the Clintons BORN in N.Y.? No. Hillary Clinton was born in Illinois and a lot of people where encourging her to run HERE instead of New York (she didn't because Senator Fitzgerald would kick her butt in the election), so I fail to see the analogy. Funny how all the southerners screaming about "yankee transplants" had no problem voting for that long-time Illinoian who moved to California, Ronald Reagan.

On the other hand, I DO see a problem in Liddy's background (not because of her location) but due to the fact she's not a REAL Republican. She grew up a hard-core Lyndon Johnson Democrat and simply "joined" the GOP because she married one. She didn't change any of her views. Sounds sort of like the Dixiecrats on his forum (George Wallace Democrats) who CLAIM to be Republicans but are always attacking the party for--gasp!-- fighting for civil rights and defeating a bunch of racist (who they laughingly call "conservative") Democrats like Sam Ervin

>> I won't be endorsing Dole, the lie for Senate - and it doesn't matter who calls me what. So if Dole is ONE OF ONLY TWO CHOICES, the other has my support and vote. Let's see here:

REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES FILING IN THE PRIMARY ELECTION:

Ven Challa (R) - Physician & Medical School Professor
Tim Cook (R) - Biologist & Chemist
Elizabeth Dole (R) - Ex-US Labor Secretary & Ex-American Red Cross President
Ada Fisher (R) - Rowan School Board Member, Retired Physician & Educator
Jim Parker (R) - Physician & Ex-Army Officer
Douglas Sellers (R) - Insurance Agency Owner
Jim Snyder (R) - Attorney & Author

THIRD PARTY CANDIDATES FILING FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION:

Sean Haugh (Libertarian) - State LP Executive Director & '00 State Sen. Nominee
Norio Kushi (Natural Law) - Businessman & NLP Activist

Seven choices in the primary and AT LEAST four in the general (assuming no Independants file). Sounds like far more than two to me. You accuse the NC GOP of lying about opposition to Dole in the primary and then YOU blanantly lie about opposition to her in the GENERAL. EITHER one of third party candidates would be more conservative than the Democrat. Yet a "conservative" like you is on record to vote for the MOST liberal candidate.

>> I will not knowing endorse a lie for any reason. <<

Neither will I. Your actions and your beliefs make it clear you have no interest in promoting "conservative" candidates. I'm guessing you are a Dixiecrat who misses the ol' "solid south" and is living in an 1860 timewarp where the Democrat Party still runs a bunch "conservative" candidates.

And yes, YOU are what's wrong with this forum. I hope the Republicans in NC can get off their butts for Synder to couter all the blue-dog Dumbocrats that they are overrun with.

Cannot let that one go by. RR MOVED TO CALIFORNIA not said he was there like your friend Hildebeast did TO New York.

You apparently have a problem with English comprehension or either you resort to casting your yank without fully assessing the discussion. For YOUR convenience, I have restated this sentence so you would have to reread it.

"So if Dole is ONE OF ONLY TWO CHOICES, the other has my support and vote."

Application of a little common sense will make the meaning of that statement more clear, if you care to demonstrate any.

"Seven choices in the primary and AT LEAST four in the general (assuming no Independants file). Sounds like far more than two to me. You accuse the NC GOP of lying about opposition to Dole in the primary and then YOU blanantly lie about opposition to her in the GENERAL.

When have I lied concerning Dole's opponents or mentioned the GENERAL? Your failure to possess an ability accurately understand does not make me or anyone else a liar. Does this sound familiar? "...look at the prominient R. leaders endorsing [Dole] while disregarding the other, more honest Republican candidates. She BLATANTLY LIES of her involvement with N.C., won't debate nor associate with the other respectable N.C. candidates of the party and we're asked to vote for HER?"

Would reading that give you the impression that I'm saying only two candidates are running? Or had all that slipped your memory? Whether you think so or not, I AM supporting Jim Snyder and working as hard as my career allows to support the man.

BTW, of those two examples of criticism you gave, I totally agree with your view.

"Your actions and your beliefs make it clear you have no interest in promoting "conservative" candidates."

Can you explain how you conclude that, or is that another knee-jerk yank? I believe I was as clear as is possible in my reasoning that voting for one who knowingly lies of their involvement constitutes grounds for losing hope that any better should be expected should the candidate reach office. And this party, which boasts of conservative, moral honesty, cannot simply turn a blind eye to lying without requiring any accountability and continue that boast without serious compromise, IMHO. Neither can the serious issues facing our leaders be confidently borne by one who will not debate, but uses any excuse to avoid scrutiny altogether. North Carolinians are known to face problems squarely and deal with them appropriately.....

Good day.
Az
