Are you concerned about our nation's porous borders? It's a fair question, and I think that it is one that nearly everyone can answer. Please provide your opinion and why you feel one way or the other?

One would be braindead not be concerned about it, but the lunatics are running the asylum. Once 245i is coopted by the dems, Bush has no choice but to play nice, 'cuz he dealt the hand.

Well, what type of America would you like to live in? A multicultural, multilingual America, or one that you've enjoyed through your life?

You did not ask me but I will answer anyway.....What you described has been America from the industrial revolution to today. Do you think that "Barrios, ghettoes, enclaves" are a modern American phenomenon?

Mostly multi cultural actually when I think about it. Granted my father was in international business, so I met and conversed from folks around the globe. But living where I do, and who I choose as friends, it has been an ongoing process. I like to associate with folks who stimulate me intellectually. In addition, one simply can't engage in the California economy without dealing with all sorts of folks. I am constantly amazed how positive most of those encounters are. I am a big optimist about America. It is a very special place.

The United States is America. However, I know what you're saying. If they're not here legally, they have no right to be here. Furthermore, their culture is different to that of the United States, and most don't appear willing to assimilate.

That's your point of view. However, my only concern is that policies reflect what is necessary for America's health and longstanding, not what is politically correct at the time.

Sure ghettos have been around. However, there's no reason to create more of them, as slum conditions, chaos, and social politics increase.

You know, I've been giving this whole issue a lot of thought lately, there ARE a lot of points to consider after all.

The first point that sticks to my mind, is the issue of race. Mind you, I will be flamed and called names for simply posting something that I believe to be a factor that needs to be considered when discussing the issue of immigration in North America.

Western History is the history of one people being occupied and ruled by another (mind you, I am the latter, not the former). There is no history to this hemisphere before the arrival of the first Euro, be it Eric the Red, or Columbus.

Caucasians are not indigenous to this hemisphere, and that's a simple fact. When the first Europeans arrived here, a race of people were occupying the land, and living their lives as they saw fit to live them.

We (Europeans) knew that we were stronger, deemed them to be savages, and excused any actions we needed to take, in order to civilize them...even if it killed them.

We did exceptionally well in Cuba, we didn't let one single native inhabitant survive their initiation into civilization.

Here, we did a good job of marginalizing them by restricting them to reservations and such.

But the Spaniards didn't do as thorough a job south of the border. There may have simply been too many natives, too many mountains, and too many jungles to cover.

You see, I think one day, sooner or later, the native inhabitants of this hemisphere may simply start to ignore the ruling Euro-Americans, and move about as free as they used to before we got here.

I guess you didn't notice all the bilingualism, Spanish advertising, social politics, etc. You can be optimistic, but I don't think that things will turn out as well as you think.

I'm not " rude " at all. You just don't like what I post, me, and can't refute the FACTS. You don't understand historical precidents . Neither do you know what you're talking about, when you claim that " EUROPEAN " immigration worked, because they had the same views, culture, or whatever it is that you are insinuating, as the populace of the USA had , at that time, Rhat just is NOT factually accurate.

I agree but there is a huge difference what a ghetto is and what a slum is. The point is that people have been congregating in this country by previous nationality from the time it was born. I can point to many towns in Texas where the only language you will hear in everyday conversation is German.

Elaborating on your point, you should read Guns, Germs and Steel, if you haven't already. The book won the Putilzer prize. In the right climates, Euros really did wipe out the natives. When they tried to colonize the wrong climates, it simply didn't work out.

Actually, I have no problem with the Zimbabweans (Rhodesians) and South Africans coming to America, as they are being slaughtered because of their race.

Furthermore, what's with the Hitler talk? Do you deny that good, innocent people were murdered at account of his regime?

What I notice is that Hispanics seem desperately eager to learn English to enhance their income. Greedy souls aren't they?

Where is your logic? Give me a reason why you seem to believe that current immigration policies and illegal immigration will result in a healthy, thriving America? Most of the places it has impacted has given us more socialist democrats. Furthermore, the physical effects are very evident in graffiti, lowered school standards (bilingual education), closed storefronts, etc.

Where is your logic, and give me an example of where your logic is working?

By contrasting Europe, Canada and Mexico. You are looking for a response that favors one over the other. By doing that you are looking for something you can pin on someone for being racist. If I'm wrong here I apoligize.

I am very concerned. I had a customer that came into our business for service. When I asked for ID she gave me a Resident Alien id card that expires in 2005 and a Social Security Card. When I ran the Credit Inquiry the response received was "SSN is issued to a deceased person".

Needless to say the customer didn't stick around and quite frankly I didn't know who I should call. The person worked at a local fast food restaurant which you would think would do a thorough background check.
