A day in the life of President Bush (debate): 8/8/02
The incredible minds of FreeRepublic

Posted on 08/08/2002 5:48:46 PM PDT by rintense

Since there aren't any photos today, I thought we could try something new. Instead of posting your favorite photos, let's have a friendly debate (and I mean friendly, damn it!)

Tonight's topic: Media stories about Iraq: Pentagon plants or True stories. Discuss.

RULES: 1. Be respectful of others' opinions.
2. If you use sources, please cite them.
3. No flaming!
4. See rule 1.

Watch your comments about getting a life! We're staining our deck, too. Well, not right this minute because it's awfully late here on the right coast.

Our old deck was literally falling apart under our feet and we had to get a new one ..... the work was completed a few weeks ago and now that it's had time to season just a bit, we're staining it.

What are you using? We're using something highly recommended called Australian Timber Oil.

I would say that is a fairly recent picture of Lisa and Morgan Beamer. Wasn't Morgan born in January or early February? That would put her at about 6 or 7 months old .... and in the pic she looks like she could be that age.

Which in turn has to be a field day for our intelligence. Our ability to watch Saddam's military reactions has to be pretty good, and pretty intense, by now.

Can you imagine shadow boxing with Mohammed Ali, in his prime, with you wearing blinders, and Ali not telling you which month he is finally going to lower the hammer. He could have your ever reaction mapped out to a fine detail, before the final onslaught. Hardly a fair contest.

The only problem I see is that we will be fighting in Baghdad, house to house, so long as Saddam manages to keep his troops under control. He'll have his troops hiding behind the skirts of women and diapers of small babies. They will do everything they can to turn this into a publicicy disaster. So we will need to flat out shutdown all communication in and out of Iraq while we accomplish the main event.

The ability to shutdown and totally control communication will also hasten the time when his loyal troops decide there is no more reason for being loyal to their former leader.

I'm on the right coast also .. it's 3:00AM and again ... I need a life .. LOL

Actually it's the only time I can get anything done because during the day the kiddies are all to eager to help me .. which is a whole different story ..

With the problems of the West Nile Virus the last few years around here I had the hubby screen in the porch a few weeks ago because the kiddies like being out there, especially at night

I'm using a clear stain called .. Flood, CWF-UV .. I bought it at Home Depot .. I used it on the fence and it went on nice ..

The deck is easier because I can just roll it on

We're brushing our stain on ..... :-(

Since this is the first coat on brand new wood, we figure we'll get better coverage ..... can make sure we get all the nooks and crannies.

Also, the vertical parts of the railing aren't wood ...... they're metal balusters. We have to be careful not to get the stain on them. Actually, I've done part of the railing with a craft brush. When we finally get to the floor, hubby may opt for rolling that on, but for the detail work a brush is working better.

Think I'll finally give up the ghost and try to get some sleep.

G'night!

Psalm for today: (actually for yesterday) which is addressed to "all peoples", to "all inhabitants of the world". So, hope we all have our "ears open".....

Psalm 49
The Confidence of the Foolish

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

1 Hear this, all peoples;
        Give ear, all inhabitants of the world,
        2Both low and high,
        Rich and poor together.
        3My mouth shall speak wisdom,
        And the meditation of my heart shall give understanding.
        4I will incline my ear to a proverb;
        I will disclose my dark saying on the harp.

        5Why should I fear in the days of evil,
        When the iniquity at my heels surrounds me?
        6Those who trust in their wealth
        And boast in the multitude of their riches,
        7None of them can by any means redeem his brother,
        Nor give to God a ransom for him--
        8For the redemption of their souls is costly,
        And it shall cease forever--
        9That he should continue to live eternally,
        And not see the Pit.

        10For he sees wise men die;
        Likewise the fool and the senseless person perish,
        And leave their wealth to others.
        11Their inner thought is that their houses will last forever,[1]
        Their dwelling places to all generations;
        They call their lands after their own names.
        12Nevertheless man, though in honor, does not remain;[2]
        He is like the beasts that perish.

        13This is the way of those who are foolish,
        And of their posterity who approve their sayings.Selah
        14Like sheep they are laid in the grave;
        Death shall feed on them;
        The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning;
        And their beauty shall be consumed in the grave, far from their dwelling.
        15But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave,
        For He shall receive me.Selah

        16Do not be afraid when one becomes rich,
        When the glory of his house is increased;
        17For when he dies he shall carry nothing away;
        His glory shall not descend after him.
        18Though while he lives he blesses himself
        (For men will praise you when you do well for yourself),
        19He shall go to the generation of his fathers;
        They shall never see light.
        20A man who is in honor, yet does not understand,
        Is like the beasts that perish.

Only GOD knows what's really going to happen. He's working behind the scenes here and HE and he alone will change the politics in the Mid East. We're only tools in His hands. Hope we're good tools and that we don't go before Him. We need to be cautious about that. God has a plan.

Just get some hot milk and relax, Miss Marple. None of us has any control of this or any other situation. Read a good book, quit watching the news and chill out. You'll be okay in a little while (smile). Love ya, M

Wonderful, Freedom. I love the Psalms. They're so WITH it in today's world. God is in control. We are not. It's as simple as that. Love,Maryxxx

Thanks once again for your Psalms, FWI......they are ageless and timely at the same time!

I won't be around this weekend, but it looks like there won't be many pictures either.

A Fox reporter said we wouldn't be seeing much of the President in the next few days because he was going to be clearing brush, and spending "quality time with Laura," to which I say....
YEAH, BABY!!! Have fun, Mr. President! You deserve a break!!

Have a great weekend, all!!
