Which hick town did the aristocracy pick? i guess i missed that one.

I don't remember the exact name of the town but there is some irony to this. The town some liberal picked was actually in California if I remember correctly. An old gold town that went bust. I forget the name. The writer said that there is some strange desert plantlife there that looks like upsidedown toilet brushes. I could not help but think how un-liberal it is to look at nature through such an ugly point of view.
