[LOL. I was born in California. Serves me right, huh?]

My intention is this. People in various states think that they can elect terrorist lovers. They can elect criminals and scummy lowlifes. And they still can have pride in their states? I realise that no state is made up of evil clones. Good people are in every state. But here is a chance for freepers and lurkers to print up a nation-wide discussion of what people really think about their states.

It all depends on the criteria you want to use. Most here are focusing on the political, in which case Massachussetts or California are strong contenders. Hawaii is too, for that matter.

Hawaii probably has the best climate, though, so maybe it's eliminated. North Dakota may have the worst, but that's only if you hate a freezing hell over a sweating hell along the Gulf Coast.

I'm a California native who left there over 20 years ago. I know its beauty and its riches. But it ain't the place I left.

I guess I don't really have an opinion on the worst. Every place has advantages and disadvantages, politically, economically, scenically, culturally, or any other criteria you might apply.

Right now, I'm leaning toward retiring in Costa Rica if that's any indication.
