I am not sure if everyone remembers this story, but I have a old phone number for a big time democratic trial attorney who has given a lot of money to Clinton, Gephardt etc. Hell I was even invited to the white house for a dinner with Clinton (natually they didn't realize who they were talking to). Anyway, I gave them my email so I would be on there email lists.... today I got one from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. I thought Freepers would enjoy reading it, to get the view from the other side. The problem is that the email is in complete HTML, and I can't edit copy and paste it to put it in the site, when I save it as a HTML file, it is to skewed
The other good thing, is that this email only goes to the DNC's top donors...
If you can help, freep mail me

Dear Name Witheld: Welcome to the latest edition of the DCCC Update.
National and Florida Democrats Exploring Legal Options Against Katherine Harris WASHINGTON DC/TALLAHASSEEE - Florida Democratic Party Chair Bob Poe and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee last Friday convened a high level conference call between national Democratic legal and political strategists and Democratic candidates running in FL-13 to explore legal options regarding Katherine Harris' recent forced resignation as Florida Secretary of State. Harris failed to abide by Florida election law which required her to file a letter on the day she qualified to run for Congress stating her intent to resign -- or resign immediately. According to the Associated Press, "Harris said she thought the law did not apply to her office." [AP, 08/01/02] "Katherine Harris's tenure as Secretary of State has been an embarrassment to Florida. Thanks to her we have again become the punch line of a national joke. But failing to follow election law isn't funny, especially when you are the person who is supposed to uphold it," said Bob Poe, Florida Democratic Party Chair. One Step Closer to the Majority WASHINGTON DC - Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chair Nita Lowey (D-NY) says Democrats are one step closer to taking back the majority thanks to strong performances by Democrats around the country in recent primaries. "America needs a new House for working families, a new House leadership that stands up for our values after eight years of Washington Republican control. Tennessee Democrats across the state made us proud last week. They ran strong campaigns and proved just how motivated, energized, and dedicated they are to returning the Democratic values of opportunity, job creation and strong communities to Washington. Lincoln Davis in the 4th District, Jim Cooper in the 5th District, and Tim Barron in the 7th District ran great races and will make Tennessee proud when they get to Congress.
Candidates Corner State Senator Lincoln Davis is running for the fourth district of Tennessee. He embodies the values of the Tennessee families and communities in the district he seeks to represent. Davis stands up for employees and workers over corporate greed, speaks out for real prescription drug help for our seniors, and calls for Social Security to be protected. Lincoln Davis is a plain spoken, proven problem solver. He understands when something needs to be done, you roll up your sleeves... you get involved. Lincoln Davis has a long history of service to the people of Tennessee. As mayor, state representative and member of the state senate, he has worked to make Tennessee's communities better. As a successful farmer and businessman, Lincoln knows the importance of hard work and the desire to succeed. Lincoln is a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He and his wife Lynda, a teacher, have raised three children. He shares the values of his Tennessee neighbors, family and friends. As the next congressman from Tennessee's Fourth Congressional District, Lincoln Davis will work to make our future bright. Bass in the Tank A new poll taken July 19 - 21 by the Becker Institute brings more bad news for New Hampshire Rep. Charlie Bass. Facing a challenge from Democrat Katrina Swett, Bass' popularity has plummeted, leaving him vulnerable to defeat in November. In a head to head match up between Swett and Bass, 40% of New Hampshire voters would vote to re-elect Bass while 37% of voters would vote for Swett, with 23% of second district voters undecided. A late entry to the race, Swett has built up formidable support after less than four months as a candidate for Congress. Economy Stirs G.O.P. Worry in House Races
"...Democrats have showed increasing if measured signs of confidence in recent days. Representative Richard A. Gephardt, the House Democratic leader, said in an interview that Democrats were 'gaining in optimism' and that as of now he thought many House elections would turn not on Mr. Bush's handling of the war in Afghanistan, but on the state of the economy and Wall Street. "Representative Nita M. Lowey of New York, the chairwoman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said: 'Something is happening out there that is putting a nice wind at our back. It's not a cyclone yet, but I think it's a strong wind. And let's face it, for most of the cycle, we were really going against the wind'..." NRCC Lies Again!! When it comes to campaign ads, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has proven once again that they cannot be trusted. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that the NRCC issued a false press release yesterday claiming that the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor party altered its radio ad on Republican candidate John Kline's position on Social Security. However, the NRCC got their facts totally wrong. Managers for the two radio stations listed in the NRCC release said that the NRCC was not telling the truth. WorldCom Woes are a Factor in Mississippi House Campaign "BRANDON, MISS. -- These parts still produce 'dirt road' country Democrats willing to run head-long against the state's new and powerful Republican elite. Suddenly, the collapse of nearby WorldCom Inc. may be making these politicians' task a little easier. Quote of the Week "...A nice kid, but he's got no clue." ---NRCC Chairman Tom Davis on KS-03 Republican nominee Adam Taff [New York Times, 3/3/02] At the Races CT-05 - Maloney, Labor, Win Battle with Stanley Works Five months after Congressman Jim Maloney announced the introduction of the Neal-Maloney bill - a bill designed to eliminate the tax loophole that allows companies to reincorporate in a foreign country- Stanley Works has decided to do the right thing and end its plan to expatriate to Bermuda. The Greenwich Times reports Congressman Jim "Maloney told the crowd that despite holding a minority in the House, Democrats will 'stop Stanley Works now and permanently.'" Looks like it worked. The Hartford Courant reports, "Stanley Works is staying home. The New Britain-based company announced early today that its board of directors authorized the withdrawal of its proposal to reincorporate in Bermuda Earlier this week, several hundred demonstrators convened in New Britain next to a giant, inflatable rat holding a Bermuda flag." [Hartford Courant, 8/2/02] The Greenwich Times continues, "Organized labor ratcheted up its opposition to The Stanley Works' attempt to reincorporate in Bermuda as the president of the national AFL-CIO came to New Britain Monday to say the New Britain toolmaker was linked to corporate scandals. More than 200 workers and Democratic Party activists rallied in front of The Stanley Works factory in New Britain. The rally, punctuated by whistles and horns and adorned with a giant inflatable rat and campaign signs for Democratic candidates for state office, was among the first in a series of AFL-CIO events focused on corporate accountability." [Greenwich Times, 7/29/02] IA-04 - Norris Fights for Real Drug Coverage The Iowa Falls Times Citizen reports, "Fourth District Congressional candidate John Norris made a stop in Iowa Falls recently, as part of his 23-city prescription drug tour. Norris has been conducting meetings with pharmacists, senior citizens and others concerning the high cost of prescription drugs
Norris also pointed out he feels the recently passed House of Representatives plan does nothing to contain the high costs of prescription drugs. Rather than just going through Medicare, Norris claims the plan his opponent, Tom Latham voted for, forces seniors to purchase another insurance policy with no certainty what the premium costs will be, what drugs it will cover and if those insurance products will be available in Iowa. 'The seniors I talk to want this to be a Medicare plan,' Norris said." [Iowa Falls Times Citizen, 7/24/02] IN-02 - Indiana Candidates Discuss Corporate Accountability The Indianapolis Star reports, "In the north central 2nd Congressional District -- one of the most competitive races in both the state and nation -- Democrats have attacked the business decisions of a company whose board is headed by Republican candidate Chris Chocola. They also believe Chocola's position on Social Security will be harder to defend as voters watch their retirement accounts deflate. And in east central Indiana Democrat Melina Fox has been driving a Studebaker around the district to remind people of companies that go bust -- and the consequences for employees."
