Now now, my friend........you know better. That wasn't fermented wine as we know it; not the wine that Jesus drank. Well known fact, well established.

Nonsense. Jesus drank wine. Fermented wine with alcohol in it.

Jesus would drink better beer then Budweiser though.

How bout a billboard with Mohammed holding a beer?

Or one of him pole smoking

Or one of him holding a beer in one hand and a big 'ol Bacon Cheese Burger (double, of course) in the other?

"...mixing alcoholic beverages makes you sick."

"I'll have you know that when I start a party with champagne, beer, wine, daiquiris and shooters, I finish a party with champagne, beer, wine, daiquiris and shooters."

Thesis followed up by evidence, the scientific process at work. Well done, gents.

The problem with your analogy is that there is nothing in the bible saying don't drink. NOTHING. There are some contradictory old test passages, but no direct don't drink messages.

Did people not get drunk in Jesus' times then? I have heard your argument (are you a Southern Baptist by any chance) before and I think there are many holes in it...

No, bone up on your ancient Middle East history. It was NOT fermented. Yes, there WAS fermented wine, but remember that you're reading translations of translations. In sum, the wine that Jesus drank was NOT fermented (and hey.......I'm no tee-totaller........I LOVE a good bourbon :) ).

So would a billboard of Jesus hawking non-alcoholic beer be ok?

Why doesn't everyone just hold off and ask Jesus himself what he
thinks of this? He'll be coming along anytime now, it won't be long...

Sarcasm is something best left to professionals. Like me. No offense, but you suck at it.

There is no Bibical evidence that Jesus drank wine,

sorry, can't agree with that ... obviously He would not promote drunkeness ... regarding beer, well there's no Biblical evidence that He drank beer ...

Matthew 11:19

The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children. (Whole Chapter: Matthew 11 In context: Matthew 11:18-20)

Luke 7:34

The Son of Man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! (Whole Chapter: Luke 7 In context: Luke 7:33-35)

It's pretty clear here that He was drinking wine or He would have rebuked them for false accusation ... also, one of the accounts at the Last Supper says He will drink NO MORE of the fruit of the vine until He drinks it with the Disciples in His Father's Kingdom ... FWIW ...

No. He is the Son of God, deserving of our respect, not disrespectful jokes.

That begs the question,

What Would Jesus Drink.

I should clarify that He was not guilty of being "a man gluttonous, and a winebibber" ... i.e., He did NOT eat nor drink to excess ... not that it shouldn't be obvious anyway ...

If this were a picture of Mohammed holding a beer you would see liberal politicians, civil rights leader and students rising up in anger, calling this billboard yet another example of American racism and cultural insensitivity. But in this country it is only appropriate to offend a person's beliefs if he or she happens to be Christian...in fact, it is in most places this taken as a sign of superior intelligence. On University campuses you can pretty much say anything against Christianity and you will get nods of approval from the enlightened ones...but if you dare say anything slightly negative against any other belief system you will be labeled a racist, Nazi, or ignorant redneck.

Oh, please don't misunderstand. I neither know you nor care a whit what you feel, think, or do. You simply don't matter to me one little bit. I merely responded to a mindless post. You may be a fine person, but you, as I said, suck at sarcasm. Your attempt to which I responded was clumsy, awkward, insulting, sacriligious, juvenile, and inappropriate. Stick around FR, though; you'll learn the fine art. Take care.
