NEW YORK, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- As the debate about a U.S. invasion of Iraq continues in Washington, President George W. Bush's administration is quietly getting ready for a fight, Newsweek reports in the current issue. U.S. munitions plants have put on extra shifts to rebuild arsenals depleted during the Afghan war, and a few hundred uniformed personnel are working as advance teams in Jordan and elsewhere, assessing the need for new airstrips, wider roads and the like, Newsweek reports. And even before Saddam Hussein became a priority target, the U.S. Department of Energy was working to get America's strategic petroleum reserve up to its full capacity of 700 million barrels -- enough to meet U.S. energy needs for more than 80 days in a crunch, report National Security Correspondent John Barry and Diplomatic Correspondent Roy Gutman in the August 12 issue of Newsweek (on newsstands Monday, August 5).

Well.......one story that CAN be sourced is Senator Biden's statement that he has been assured by President Bush that there will be action taken PRIOR to the November elections.

Considering Iran is heading toward a revolution that would throw the mullahs out on the street, an invasion there would not be a good thing.
Helping out selected revolutionary parties however...

When we launch it will be so sudden.
No buildup(less chances of Saddam gassing our boys)
Just drop the kitchen sink on him...out of the blue.
Something else to ponder....could Saddam not be the main event .....and we go after Iran or North Korea first??

And just how many BILLIONS is that going to cost us?
To: sciencediet
Wouldn't it be interesting if this whole "Vacation" is just a ruse to throw Saddam off track and this war starts during W's vacation and the congressional recess...

The answer should be, as long as it takes to establish a secular democracy based on a written constitution.Turkey's the only one. Ain't gonna happen in Iraq. The simplest solution is the re-installation of the Hashemite royal line.

I thought the War Powers resolution stated the President had to explain his actions to Congress within 48 hours of moving the troops.....meaning within 48 hours after.

This time, let's take and keep about 80% of Iraq's oil field to pay for the war against Iraq, the follow-up war with Iran, and other necessary ant-terrist actions. When out national debt is paid off, we can return the oil fields to Iraq. Ab-so-f*ing-lutely!
And while we're at it, we should confiscate enough of Saudi Ararbia's oil to pay for 9-11 and subsequent costs related to stomping out the Saudi-originated Wahabbi savages (at least 1 trillion USD).

I dont think there is any chance of going after North Korea, as for Iran, they are on the verge of Revolution anyway, If we attack them it will just get the people pissed at us. Im sure we have some CIA agents in Iran working with opposition groups in the government, this will be an inside job. I do think there is a small chance that we and or Isreal might go after Syria though.

I think it will happen sooner than later as well. There's no doubt in my mind that the best kept secret in the Bush Admin (other than the fact that Osama is dead) is there is indeed a link between September 11th and Iraq. Hussein knows we know, and I'm willing to bet that some of the moderate Arab states can guess we know.
The key is to watch the activity at the Western White House over the next month. If you see Daschle, Lott, Hastert and Gephardt there, then you know somethings up. The fact that they have already begun hearings about Iraq, and the fact that many leading Dems who were once against a strike are now for it... and it is a forgone conclusion.
It isn't a matter of if, but when. And that when will be sooner than later.
