I was at a hospital having a stress test the morning of 9/11, with electrodes taped all over my chest, on a treadmill. They had a television on in the waiting room, and radio in the examination room, so I knew what was going on. I just wanted to rip off the electrodes and go home!

Wow.
This is a fascinating, yet horrifying read.
I am just sick thinking about the terror the passengers and crews of these planes must have gone through before the end.
ANIMALS!

Why is it that the most serious followers of Islam are the ones who want to kill us?

If the "safe" Muslims are Turks who smoke and drink, whose wives hold jobs and let their hair blow free, are they really Muslims at all?

Who are the "real" Muslims, the Attas and Bin Ladins and their millions of followers who pray 5 times a day and memorize the Koran, or the quiet Muslims (who can't quite seem to condemn terrorism?)

This is very confusing for us, and for now, we just can't trust ANY Muslims.

If you want to help the cause of good honest "safe" Muslims in the USA, tell us how to find the Attas among the rest. We can't tell, so we must look at ALL Muslims as potential Attas.

But an operation on so ambitious a scale required detailed reconnaissance by a skilled pilot, able to time an aircraft's flight path, judge when it had reached cruising altitude and observe what visual landmarks could be used to substitute for the crew's navigational equipment and guide a successful hijack to its target. At the barest minimum, a stop-watch and compass would serve to plot the course, but global positioning devices produce preciser results.

Or a remote-piloting system and someone(s) on ground.

"...the Minneapolis office, "in a desperate 11th hour measure to bypass the FBI [headquarters] roadblock", notified the CIA's Counter Terrorist Centre of its anxieties - receiving nothing more than a stern rebuke from their supervisor...

And I'll bet every single pasty-faced, besuited rodent in along the trail of arrogance, incompetence and stupidity leading to the deaths of thousands of Americans is still holding its cushy job in the Government (all bow...).

And the solution put in place by the Bush administration is, of course, is to strip-search grandmothers in wheelchairs in the airports.

Further along the coast, another group of Arabs got tight and nasty at Red-Eyed Jack's in Daytona Beach. "Wait till tomorrow," one said, "America is going to see bloodshed."

Wish I had been at Red Jack's that night...it would have got ugly.

Forget and force yourself to forget that thing which is called the World; the time for amusement is gone and the time of truth is upon us. We have wasted so much time in our life. Should we not use the hours to offer actions that make us closer to God?

Who wrote this?

Who, exactly - What person - or thing - wrote all of the quotes of supposed "religious counsel" quoted in this piece?

I'm sure no one knows, but what bothers me is that no one seems to care.

Somewhere, at the core of this "al-Quaida", and maybe at the core of the "Islamic fundamentalist" phenomenon, is someone - or some thing - who is specifically inspiring these acolytes to immolation in the name of Jihad.

We need to find him, her, or it - and kill it, unceremoniously. We need to kill him/her/it for merely holding such beliefs, and for espousing its beliefs, and for disseminating its beliefs - and we need to make sure we do not apologize to anyone for so doing.

Were the black boxes recovered from the planes that hit the Towers? Anyone know how their final speed was calculated without the transponders?

Quite a bit of new detail here. There are some errors

Atta took an unexplained leave of absence from Hamburg in November 1997 lasting 15 months, a period he may have spent training with Al Qa'ida in Afghanistan.

Atta only spent a small part of those 15 months in Afghanistan; most of that time was in fact spent in Germany, apparently making contact with other al-Qaeda cells there. I also believe that Almidhar and Nawaq Alhazmi (not Alhamzi) were in America in 1999, not 1998. And I also think he gets confused with the identities of some of the hijackers. Clearly, the Abdulaziz Alomari who was on Flight 11 was not the 35-year-old father of four that the author confuses him here with, and I had believed that this had been cleared up a long time ago. The face on the ATM surveillance camera in Portland, ME with Atta seems to be much younger than that.

But overall a very good summary of the hijackings.
