'He was hunting for a place to kill them and bury them'

Authorities remove the body of Roy Ratliff near Lake Isabella, California, on Thursday.

LANCASTER, California (CNN) -- The man who abducted two teenage girls at gunpoint early Thursday was "hunting for a place to kill them" in a remote desert spot about 100 miles away when two deputies located him and fatally shot him, authorities said.

These officers need medals, I would give them the rest of their lives off with pay for their actions, my taxes have paid for a lot worse things! Nice shot man!

"...We don't have to worry about him being rehabilitated..."

"...We don't have to worry about the Supreme Court..."

"...He is deceased..."

Beautiful.

CNN Quote "We don't have to worry about him being rehabilitated," Sparks said of Ratliff. "We don't have to worry about the Supreme Court. He is deceased."

Dallas Morning News Quote - Sparks of Ratliff "We don't have to rebilitate the son of a bitch," he [Sparks] said. "This man right here is not going to appeal his case to the Supreme Court."

I like DMN's quote better. Strong candidate for quote of the day. Peace, TS

Gotta have room for the pot smokers who are doing life.

Cute.
If any pot smokers are doing life, I guarantee you their pot smoking escalated into something more serious than innocent cute and fuzzy smoking of pot.

That's like saying they're doing life for eating tomatoes.

I was shocked that the officer said that and then I noticed that he was an elected Sheriff.
Apparently there's a big difference between elected Sheriffs and the appointed PC political police chiefs.
The two officers who had the courage to approach a vehicle with an armed criminal inside are real heroes.

There is a lot a parent can do. A parent can be a parent from the day the child is born and set down rules to be followed or else there are consequences. A parent says be home at midnight, you are home at midnight. You break the curfew you face punishment. It's not too tough unless you are a crappy parent. " Kids are going to do what the want" is no argument. It's lousy parenting.

Alright, how many of you have actually RAISED teens...I had the experience (thank goodness its over as both are grown) of raising two teenage daughters. Both happen to be very beautiful so, unfortunately, both were very popular and many times both broke curfew and got punished.

Aw, come on, weren't you ever a teen? Teens date are known to break curfews (especially in the summer when school is out) and there is very little parents can do!

At last we agree. A lot of these people here since the 2000 election evidently never had a childhood. What were they doing at seventeen? I wonder how they are going to act when their 17 year old child acts like an 17 year old.

Sounds like that sheriff and his deputies think alike. Good attitude about law enforcement from the top down! Kewl!

Yes, but too bad they first didn't shoot the pistol from his hand, then proceed to shoot him from the legs up, a few inches at a time, until they reached the head. I'd pay for the extra bullets.

I've heard a claim that when it was announced Ratliff was dead, there was applause. When the announcement was subsequently replayed, the applause was edited out.

Does anyone else know anything about this?

vikzilla I like to think I did a few good things for 16 year old girls in my day:)

And, judging by this remark, you have never grown up.

You are correct! The applause *was* edited out in later broadcasts. I noticed this on MSNBC.

Our thoughts exactly. If the pervert was dead...then there was no reason to mention what he did to them. That could have been with them and them alone. Disgusting they had to tell that.

Someone with the courage to speak up the way he should have. And I hope no bleeding hearts out there take offense a the SOB word. If they do, they should just turn on TV to some of the shows and listen to what is saying and what is being shown. Then talk to us abut the SOB word where it most deservely applies.

I told my wife last night I hope the officers get commendations and that the girls' dads take them out for a steak dinner and the moms remember their birthdays and send Christmas cards for the rest of their lives.
