'He was hunting for a place to kill them and bury them'

Authorities remove the body of Roy Ratliff near Lake Isabella, California, on Thursday.

LANCASTER, California (CNN) -- The man who abducted two teenage girls at gunpoint early Thursday was "hunting for a place to kill them" in a remote desert spot about 100 miles away when two deputies located him and fatally shot him, authorities said.

Love the quote from the sheriff and that form of swift, on the spot justice for this scumbag. I've just got one thing I'd like to say to those deputies, .... Nice work, guys.

Yep blame the victims. Why don't you get on over to DU with your like minded friends. And if these girls had been twenty what would you have said then,"They had it coming because they were playing around". You need help.

It's possible that the teens snuck out after the parents went to bed. Or, has it been reported otherwise? I am not sure.

I don't know, I haven't heard it reported either. Which is why I am asking the question about where the parents were. Did they know or not? I'm most certainly not attempting to say the parents are to blame for what this sick (and now dead) freak did. However there are also consequences if parents let their kids just run out anywhere at anytime, in this day and age.

Maybe he will become one of the seventy two virgins that await the Muslim a-holes. That would be funny.

Our criminals andd rapists spend about as much time in jail as Palestinian terrorists!

Gotta have room for the pot smokers who are doing life.

>I>Aw, come on, weren't you ever a teen? Teens date are known to break curfews (especially in the summer when school is out) and there is very little parents can do!

You are not a meandog at all :) Parenting requires leadership, and you seem to have abandoned yours.

And, yes, I was a teenager and did some crazy things. But my parents --- who never raised their hand on me --- would probably take my head off if I were to sneak out until morning.

It is the resignation to the status quo that causes our culture to deteriorate further. Kids always push the envelope, so when you don't correct them on using the word d-man (as was done until a couple of decades ago), they proceed to stronger expressions. When you do not insist on them being polite with elders, they end up not having any respect for them at all.

The "greatest generation" still remembered how it was otherwise: they were raised properly but failed to pass on the traditions, giving rise to the most uncivil society we have ever had in our history. By now, that those doing parenting do not even have references: their own parents were doing serious drugs in the 60s.

You know, I had excellent parents, who didn't allow us out after 11 pm, ever, and that was only for special occasions. That didn't stop us from finding a way to sneak out in the middle of the night on a couple of occasions, though. Teens are resourceful.

You know something, I had excellent parents too, who were very particular about who I was with, where I was at, and when I'd be home. And to be honest, I had enough RESPECT for my parents not to break their rules. Teens who find it necessary to rely on their "resourcefulness" -- IMHO -- not only disrespect their parents, but show little respect for themselves through dishonesty and deceitfulness. Any of us can call it "resourcefulness" all we want, but in actuality it's dishonesty and deceit.

No, I am saying that failing to supervise one's child puts the child in the harm's way. Other people, such as the aforementioned SOB, are responsible for the harm they inflict on the child. It is the responsibility of the parent to remove the child from the circumtances where harm is likely.

Yep blame the victims. Care to show me where I did that?

Why don't you get on over to DU with your like minded friends. Jumping to strong conclusions with not information is not a sign of a good thinker.

And if these girls had been twenty what would you have said then,"They had it coming because they were playing around". You need help. Thank you, but clearly not from you.

That would be Bill Lockyear, a long time political hack. He believes homosexual rape in prison is an appropriate part of the penal system. How did he get into the conversation?

There is a lot a parent can do. A parent can be a parent from the day the child is born and set down rules to be followed or else there are consequences. A parent says be home at midnight, you are home at midnight. You break the curfew you face punishment. It's not too tough unless you are a crappy parent. " Kids are going to do what the want" is no argument. It's lousy parenting.

There is NOTHING good that can happen to a 16 year old girl out, unsupervised at 1:00 am.

I like to think I did a few good things for 16 year old girls in my day:)

He's quoted in the article.

Why did he have to mention that they were raped? then he has to repeat it. Is he some kind of media hog?
